My fav, even though I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, is:

Baby in a Pot

Ingredients: A Baby, maybe some salt too.

Put baby in pot. Cook. Eat. Add salt if needed.

So I'm gonna hope that Ben edits and deletes what he just posted all on his own without me asking him too, cuz I know he wants to do the right thing. biggrin

Anyways, this is my favorite thing to go with the ham and it is SOOOOO easy!

Pineapple Casserole
(from paula dean I LOVE her)

1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups grated sharp cheddar
2 (20-ounce) cans pineapple chunks, drained, and 6 tablespoons pineapple juice reserved
1 cup cracker crumbs (recommended: Ritz)
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, melted, plus extra for greasing pan

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a medium-size casserole dish with butter.

In a large bowl, stir together the sugar and flour. Gradually stir in the cheese. Add the drained pineapple chunks, and stir until ingredients are well combined. Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish.

In another medium bowl, combine the cracker crumbs, melted butter, and reserved pineapple juice, stirring with a rubber spatula until evenly blended. Spread crumb mixture on top of pineapple mixture. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

We don't celebrate traditional " american " like

I use that time to do an ancestor / family giving of thanks

to be thankful for all our ancestors and for all that life has given us down through the ages

This yr we are all making dishes to honor ancestors ... Jess & I are making sewdish dishes

we have invited around 16 others to join us ...asking them to bring dishes that honor their family / ancestors ( ya know like greek, irish, welsh, and everything inbetween )

awww hug I adore you back rose

I just cant make myself wrap my mind to do an american "look what we did to the natives country " celebration ... If we had treated them with honor and respect, as fellow brothers and sisters living freely on their land, then perhaps, maybe

my favorite thanksgiving recipe:

1. pick up phone
2: speak with chinese girl across street at my favorite chinese restaurant for approximately 15 seconds, ordering "the usual" which is chicken and broccoli.
3. watch tv for 10 minutes.
4. answer door when it buzzes.
5. sprinkle white rice with soy sauce.

and enjoy!

it also works well for christmas and easter meals.

I don't have any recipes with me but I'll probably make:

pumpkin cheesecake
stuffing ( I have a pretty healthy recipe)
mashed sweet potatoes w/crisp nut & brown sugar topping

maybe a squash soup

my sister & sister in law will do the rest

I'm co-hosting our annual 'friend' thanksgiving this saturday. I'm starting to get stressed as it always feels like it creeps up on me. But there really isn't much to do since everyone brings something to eat, I'm just helping coordinate and decorate and all that kinda stuff.
Since I'm hosting, I'm helping make the turkey this year (BLEH!!!) and I've only cooked a turkey once ever before, the first time I hosted the 'friend' thanksgiving and I vowed I wouldn't do it again. lol Dead birds are absolutely disgusting. But I know it will be yummy. smile

i don't even have a microwave. what happened last year was that i rode around on the bus trying to find somewhere that was open on thanksgiving to go eat, but damn near everyplace was closed. i was pissed, you'd think that at least a few places would cater to thanksgiving orphans! disbelief
