Anyone remember FOTOMAT?

I was on Snapfish earlier, ordering photo reprints, and I remembered as a child when my parents drove to the nearest Fotomat "hut" and dropped off their film, then having to wait 2 weeks (or whatever) to get the prints.

Then Motofoto came along with 1-hour developing and killed Fotomat.

...memories...

nod

One near me turned into a Rita's Italian Ice shop, and another turned into a cell phone place.

The highways are littered with "revamped" old Fotomat huts.

sextonseven and I watched a really wonderful movie called "Gypsy83" and the title character worked in a Fotomat-type booth. It really flipped me out to see that again.

i SO LOVE that movie! i wish it had been released in the '80s, it would have been my own personal 'sixteen candles' movie and i would have been on the lookout for a hot amish boyfriend.

Me too...(all three things!) There weren't any good movies for goth kids in the 80s.
