One thing was disappointing though. Mon's friend Ple, who's been refused a visa to the UK three times, was extremely happy for us, but Mon's sister, while she congratulated me, said to Mon in Thai "are you happy that you beat me?" and stayed in her room all night listening to sad music. Well, she was married to my best friend before. They never actually tried to go to Australia though, but they certainly tried for a baby. That didn't happen. Other reasons led them to split up after 7 years, he found a new gf doing her masters who has money, they moved in to a big house together, started a business which is now doing well, and she's 4 months pregnant. It has been tough on her, and now this. She should be happy for Mon and I'm sure deep down she is, but her feelings are understandable.
