Driver Turns Himself In For Dragging 2-Year-Old South Side Family Thankful Son Is Alive
POSTED: 5:54 pm CST November 14, 2006 UPDATED: 7:57 pm CST November 14, 2006 CHICAGO -- One look at 2-year-old Henry White's scary-looking injuries is enough to shake anyone up. Mother Dorothy White clearly remembers this past Saturday night, when she thought her son was gone forever. The nightmare began here near 83rd Street and Clyde Avenue. Henry was with his aunt but became confused and ran across the street to be with his mom, when a Nissan Altima hit the toddler and dragged him for nearly half a block. Police say the driver, Shawn Hunter, 17, never stopped, but he turned himself in to police later. He faces felony charges and has been ticketed for driving without a license and without insurance. Henry didn't suffer any life-threatening injuries. He received 30 stitches on his head, severe swelling and bruising, but no internal bleeding or broken bones. The Whites say they hold no hard feelings toward the driver. As Henry continues recuperating at Comer Children's Hospital, the Whites said they now walk with an even bigger appreciation for life and their son. Hunter awaits a court hearing. Thank GOD

You know that's some formative experience for a 2 year old. He'll probably remember something about that when he's older, no doubt.
