I don't know. I know I test well. I tested at genius levels when I was very young. And was placed in special programs and classes all through school. I don't know this means much, though. I sometimes feel like I can appear smarter than I really am to people. It's not that hard to fake, really. And there are always people around I think are way more intelligent than me. I remember things quite easily. And I synthesize information quickly. And have been told I have a very logical and analytical mind. I feel like I can pick up just about anything and 'get it'. But I often don't. I got lazy about just about everything when I was a teenager. And I haven't thought about it much since. I've got potential, yes indeed. But I don't do much with it. 
I think there are all sorts of different types of intelligence. Some are easier to discern than others. [Edited 11/11/06 18:35pm] It sounds like you underestimate your intelligence. Maybe you feel like you fake it because it comes so easy for you where other people struggle. But if you don't develop or value it, you can feel that way I suppose. | |

People I think are intelligent tell me I'm intelligent. I suppose the burden is on their measurement? Who is measuring their intelligence? Oh, this could take a long time to figure out!  If you have to ask, it's more than worth it. | |

Well yes, in the way most people define intelligence, I do, but I'm so utterly hopeless in so many ways that it keeps me humble and ensures my self-esteem is never more than a complete shambles. As I said in a hastily conceived myspace blog that I later deleted, there's nothing I can't do, but nothing I will. I suck, but I'm real clever at doing it and articulate in describing quite how I do it. | |
