Do you consider yourself intelligent?

Well, do you?

How do you measure your intellect?

I consider myself to be intelligent because my reactions are pretty quick. Except for physics and chemistry (the scientific kind that is), I know pretty soon what I'm reading/hearing about or seeing (in some way). Still, I don't put these observations in the centre of the world. Many things might be valid, or interesting, but things that are true and objective are hard to be found.

However, I have a very bad memory. This is a sad thing. I might be quick in reacting to this statement, but in two minutes I will have forgotten what I have read. biggrin

When I put this reaction into perspective, by reading what others say... I should conclude that I am maybe not intelligent, but rather very idle and self-conscious. lol

I wonder why the ones who are generally considered to be intelligent are saying no. Maybe they're just being modest or sarcastic, or they've got high standards, good for them.

Intelligence is relative, and relatively I'm not intelligent. Far from it, in fact.

I know its relative. That's why I asked how you measure it, against what?

Generally though, and in the broad sense of the word and taking it at face value, i'd say you and a few others were.

Surely you measure it around those around you? How else would you? Tests discriminate and you can't trust them.

When I read your witty remarks, I can imagine how you think yourself to be a bit more intelligent that your schoolmates from time to time... Or is this completely untrue?

Of course, compared to those geniuses like Einstein, Stephen Hawkings or Marcel Proust, (and many others), no one is intelligent...but I think that is not a very useful comparison.

No; I'm so far from being intelligent at this shithole it's not true. I've come to hate this place and being here...the environment it breeds - ugh; it's just horrible.

I've heard loads of boring professors copy the British accent in order to appear intelligent, so I guess that doesn't work on me.

I think I'm kinda wise....a bit stubborn though. I don't think intelligence has anything to do with what you know...like on an I.Q test.

Despite all of Costanza's flaws, he dated a lot of cute women! He's an inspiration to under-achievers everywhere. touched
