I HATE my Neighbor!

I've been putting up with this asshole neighbor since the middle of September who put in some freaking huge sound system in his apartment with a subwoofer that rumbles my apartment all day long.

It's some trailer trash guy and his son. I swear they only own two CDs, the City of Angels soundtrack, and fucking Dido. All day long it's freaking Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" or Dido's "Thank You". I've complained to the landlord 3 times and had to call the cops down there last weekend.

Now this S.O.B. is banging my walls at 4 in the morning and yelling crap just to wake me up, because he's mad at me complaining to management about him.

Has anyone ever gotten out of a lease because the landlord refused to address problem neighbors and evict them?!

I rented the bottom half of a house once. And there was a tiny apartment upstairs. Two different tenets that lived in the apartment were trailer trash drunks. Unfortunately thier favorite bars were within walking distance from our house. One bar less than 10 seconds. They snorted coke on top of that. Smoked cigarettes. And we had one heating unit for the entire house. Which I paid for the entire bill, all but 50 dollars which obviously that was unfair too, smelling thier smoke and greasey cooking , garbage and all. They never took out their garbage.
We complained and complained. Had the police out etc. Even though neither tenat paid thier rent or thier utility bills. (which likely sounds to be the case with your neigbors. Thats why they're mad you called and complained cause they already are a month or two behind on rent.)
Just keep complaining and calling the police. Your landlord will let you out if you keep doing that.

Oh man, I feel sorry for you. If you can afford it, contact a lawyer and ask about getting out of your lease. What about not paying your rent? That might get you evicted, but that might be the best thing for you at this point. Good luck.

look up watchdog organizations in your area that keep tabs on landlords. try googling 'tenants rights' with the name of your state and city. see what you get.

also, if you have other neighbors who might be effected by this, now's a good time to build alliances. the more you widen the circle of allies and support in your complaint, the more seriously it will be taken.

I thought about doing something to get evicted on purpose, but I heard that it damages your credit. And hiring a lawyer could cost me as much as paying the remainder of my lease (I'm stuck here till september).

you are entitled to quiet use of your apartment, and must not disturb other people residing there. document each and every call you make to the police, and let the police handle this, not you. send the documentation to the landlord, and tell him that your tenant rights are being violated and if it isn't rectified, you'll have no choice but to take legal action

yes, I guess it could damage your credit rating. Anx has a good suggestion. Try looking into tenants rights.

We shared a common backdoor to the house. And it was supposed to always be locked. She wouldn't lock it. And would come home at 3 or 4 in the morning and throw screaming fits because the door was locked and be to drunk to put the key in the door. She would throw all her purse contents all over the drivway and scream faggot etc. etc.
At that point I was giddy with excitement and would call the police.

FUN! biggrin

god, this is a nightmare

my downstairs neighbor plays the cello, and it gets on my nerves, but never late at night, and not for more than an hour or 2 at a time, and other than that it's silent around here

I have to remind myself that it could be sooooo much worse

Got-DAMN, that sux! You need to move away from that asshole, even if it means breaking your lease. I could never stand for shit like that going on.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm sorry but.... falloff Glad I don't have to deal with them. I do like that Dido song, but I think hearing it blasting on a regular would drive me crazy. lol

True! But I think I must be an odd duck because I LOVE the sound of music in my building...in my house there's ALWAYS music being composed, cds being mixed or engineered, students here for lessons...there's a classical pianist downstairs given to flights of boogie woogie & Duke Ellington (actually on my off days their morning classical exercises are my 8am alarm clock), the neighbor directly above me owns record stores, in the building ajoined to mine I have a neighbor who's an editor for Rolling Stone, three flights up is a dude that plays the pits for all the big musicals in town...I think if my building suddenly went quiet without music going at some point I would lose my mind!

But outside of music there's nothing I hate more than loud obnoxious neighbors!!! lol

Making music's a good thing. smile I like hearing people play live music too.....but only when I'm in the mood and not at extremely loud volumes. I used to take my big keyboard to the dorms and play it sometimes, so I couldn't really get on anyone for playing their instrument.

My problem is that I can't really hear the music, just the bleeding through noise.

Actually I'm a musician, and you'd think I wouldn't mind, but actually I'm more sensitive to noise than my girlfriend, who's not a musician. I think I can't turn my ears off and noise distracts me a lot.
