Unusual ways of eating things I've just realised that I have some abnormal eating habits.
Take pine nuts for example. They take me ages to eat as I like to hold the big end between my fingers and then almost bite through the top two thirds but not quite through to the middle so that I can try to remove the middle core whole and eat it separately. It give me immense satisfaction when I do it properly and the middle bit is kept intact for me to munch through. Jaffa cakes: I can NOT eat these normally. They HAVE to be eaten in the following order: Step 1. Nibble all around the edge, leaving the base, orange jelly centre and chocolate topping. Step 2. Eat base. Step 3. Eat chocolate. Step 4. Eat orange. (And raspberry and lemon/lime jaffa cakes are no replacement for the real thing.) Iced gems. Base first then icing. Of course. Eating the middle last Jacket potatoes. My last mouthfull has to be the middle, not the skin. (Yes, I eat the skins). Ditto for quiches, pies etc. - I always have to finish with a mouthful from the middle, not the edge. Anything with marshmallow in it also means I have to eat the marshmallow bit last, no matter how messy it gets. I've tried to give you a little insight here - I don't think I could list all my peculiarities in one thread! But I'm quirky rather than certifiable (I hope). I have an aunt who won't eat anything green, which I think is bordering on

i can't express enough the absolute method to eating a slice of pizza
please lift your pizza gently without folding. first bite should be at the tip. continue bites left to right, right to left continue until its just the crust and sauce bites must be perfectly parallel to the crust itself. then eat crust. no folding

Ex-Moderator | When I was young, I would often make myself a baloney sandwich for a snack. I would take 2 pieces of white bread and put one slice of baloney in between. Nothing else. Then, I would smash the bread down as much as I could and eat the crust off in a circle, bite by bite. Then I would smash the bread down even more, till it was practically paper thin around the baloney. I would then eat tiny little bites around the outside to create a perfect circle. Once the circle was perfect, I'd take a small bite out of it, and then nibble tiny bites all the way around to make a perfect circle again, only smaller. And so on and so on until it was gone.
It would take me, like half an hour to eat a sandwich. I haven't done this in at least 15 years. [Edited 11/9/06 7:50am] |

... but I do tend to agree with FruitToAttractBears - it's pretty sad when the highlight of your day is nibbling round the edges of pine nuts to get to the centre bit I'm sound (plus or minus a jiffy) When I was at school I loved my beans on toast. Two slices of toast on top of one another, topped with beans. I used to let the beans soak into the upper most piece of toast for a minute or two then separate the slices, scraping the beans onto the "unspoilt" toast slice that was underneth. I'd always eat the soggy slice that was drenched in baked bean sauce first before I moved on to the other piece of toast with the beans on them See, we're all as mental as each other, but in a good way "..My work is personal, I'm a working person, I put in work, I work with purpose.."
