thanks, Barbara! i don't really have physical withdrawal symptoms - for me, it's more habitual - getting into the car, sitting on the back deck... i want to reach for the ciggies. yes, each action requires a cigarette! But you get over it. My Legacy

its a amazing that so many are touched by Lung Cancer and yet where are the ribbons and huge walks...etc...etc.
I wear my pink ribbon for breast cancer and my red one for AIDS awareness but I don't have one for Lung Cancer Awareness. One of my future plans is to start a foundation called The Black Heart foundation in honor of my mom and to help ppl living with lung cancer and other tobacco related illness with their meds and other needed things. My mother use to draw, with liquid eyeliner, a black heart on her chest everyday since she was a teen. Tattooing' wasn't the thing back then. I have a black heart tattooed on my wrist, my brother has one and another relative. It just symbolizes her. If so many die of this illness, where is the outcry...yanno. My mom died within 9months of being diagnosed. It takes it toll on the spirit. God bless each of you who have a relative going through the healing process right now. I pray for their divine healing. | |

Well good for you IB and I hope that you have the willpower to remain smoking free because it isnt very easy to quit and remain a non-smoker. I wished that my mother did that encouragement like you did. My mother was in the hospital a week before Thanksgiving for nose bleeding and high blood pleasure and that relates to her heavy smoker. Despite she is working on quitting, she still is back to smoking even after all of this. Also she took that stubborn trait from my grandfather and sadly he died of lung cancer in 2001 and he smoked until nearly his final day. He quitted a couple of times, cold turkey, but eventually went back to smoking even if he was hospitalized once for shortness of breath. I am afraid that this can happen to my mother too if she doesn't give up those damn cigerattes. Despite that hospital was sort of a awake up call for her, she is cutting back now but I wished that she stop smoking period. I want her to be around to see her grandkids because she doesn't have any yet. I already dealing issues with my father But I am not going to give up and I am continue to be very vocal and I am going to do whatever it takes to make her quit. I am going to buy her a patch for Christmas to see if it works. My prayers goes to you Rhondab and everyone else who lost a relative of lung cancer. :hugs: I also think that there should be more awareness of this deadly cancer.
