I am in the middle of parent conferences (taking a break) today and Wednesday! The craziest parent just came in! He was all gangster (like father like son) and asked my why I haven't taught his son to read well enough and because I have not done this, his son is failing all his other classes. I tried to explain to him that his son shows up to my class 2 days per week and usually shows up 15 minutes late. Time constraints can make it hard for him to get individual attention... blah blah blah... Why doewn't he come in for lunch tutoring and after school tutoring. The response I get from the parent, "He has to kick it with the homies during lunch and either go to boxing or babysit after school." To which I say, Is there a way he can miss either of these obligations once a week. To which I get, "I should punch you holmess." Then I laughed at him and he starts huffing and puffing. I am afraid I might have to whip this guys ass, then security comes by and gets him as he is yelling for everyone on campust to here, SHit on you essay! I hope the rest of my parents are easy today. (which up until this point they were!) see ya!

OH MY GOD!!!!! I'm sorry you had to go through that. You should have these meetings on video so you can play them back for the parents so that they can see how stupid they look.

The only person that parent can blame is himself.

When I read this I was thinking senile crazy not ignorant because Lord knows I am a crazy parent. This weekend my son brought over his first girlfriend and I interrogated the girl like it was the Spanish inquisition. My son knows I am completely nuts and told me so! After reading this, I think I will remove my crazy title and refer to myself as being truly involved parent. That mf you ran into has no idea what "parenting" is. How the hell can you stress that your child learn how to read when you are doing nothing to help the child!?! Next time you see that dumb ass ask him if he can read. Maybe he is trying to learn himself through his child with an osmosis effect or something. Poor thing. You should record that mess like MG said and let them see what asses they are!

Sounds like when you asked him if there was anything his son could give up in order to have time to study, hit a sore spot. He doesn't want to admit he is partially to blame for his son's lack of learning. typical ignorant reaction. you can only do so much.
