LOST - The Cost Of Living - (YOU KNOW HTERE ARE SPOILERS INSIDE)

OMG what a great episode! Sometimes I have to overlook that though answers aren't exactly forthcoming in ways we expect, LOST indeed writes a MEAN show.

Ok now to the stuff!

Who to trust..Ben or Juliet? I believe them to be siblings or something like that. I have to say the video tape thing was creepy genius. But does Ben really have a tumor. Given the fact the island heals yet Jack doesn't know this, I wonder what exactly is going on. Though another thing to point out was the words exchanged between Juliet and Ben regarding his X-Rays. I think LOST has gotten to the point (not exactly in a good way) where the fans don't trust what they see anymore and fill in the blanks with what is missing or not explained...meaning we need to take what is shown to us plotwise and believe in that. Or Not. LOST tippie toes on that fine line. I love it, yet it is frustrating.

Patches? WHo's the guy we saw on the camera? Patch...Glass Eye? Same person? Maybe in the Flame Station? Oh and I think I like that Kylie girl. Need to lose that other guy, Pablo, though.

ANd of course...EKO. One of the best characters on that show faced the Ol Smokey and didn't feel he needed redemption. He was just doing what he needed to survive. Smokey didn't like that and took the precious life of our Eko and told him the others were next eek . He will be missed!

Good Question.

Security system? An anomoly created by an incident. Not really sure. But I am convinced Dave, Jack's Dad and Yemi have been the smoke monster.

I think it's somehow related to the black oil from the X-Files smile

Last nights episode was cool smile I am happy because after the one last week I was getting nervous.

GurrrRRRLLLL, that shit was sooooo good my pussy aches.

I found it odd that Henry is claiming to have a tumor, when we know that the island heals. This makes me think two things:

1) Julia is not aware of this ,and she is ignorantly walking into a trap by Ben.

2) Julia is very aware of this, and Jack is a pawn in a test to see if he can be trusted. That Julia and Ben may not get along, but that she is not actively trying to rid the island of Ben. Perhaps their just quarelling life partners? Husband and wife?

Again, can somebody explain this Desmond thing to me?
When Lock had his flashback (remember the weekass Lock show a few weeks ago), Desmond was in his flashback. Desmond was at the damned Air Port in Australia. If Locke's flashback was truley a memory of sorts in the Airport and this places Desmond at the Airport (and possibly on the plane), what is Desmond's ultimate role. He afterall is aware of events that are going to happen BEFORE they take place. Something is up with Desmond.

Finally, Dominic Monohagn's hair is dreadful. They really really really need to write the part of a beautician/hair dresser into the show. I mean, the've got shampoo and soap being air dropped,--why not peroxide and sheers? They really need to Doll Dom up a bit.

THe Point of the tumor and if it's real and to what extent remains to be seen. Is it real even though the Island has healing abilities (Which I think Ben AND Juliet know). If it is real, is Juliet to be trusted with her plan? WHat's in it for Jack? And could Jack actually NOT fix someone ON PURPOSE when he is operating? Now there's a question. If Jack decides to help Juliet, would he make the decision to kill or save Ben once he is in there. Even if he doesn't like Ben, could he kill him in that way. Or is he being tricked into thinking Juliets wants him to kill Ben, when they KNOW it's not in him, but they need to get Ben operated on somehow. I also find the X-Rays and the medical technology suspect and Confusing. I think they wanted Cliare's baby to help Ben. In fact I think they are looking for a cure for Ben's ailment. At least we know why Ben wanted Jack...but why Sawyer and why Kate?

Ben and Juliet...I think are siblings.

You are confusing Locke's hallucination in the Sweat Lodge as a flashback. It was a dream. In the dream Desmond is the Pilot and Boone says "He's helping himself right now". It was a dream sequence in which Charlie and Cliare are married...Hurley is a ticket agent, etc.

Desmond's clairvoyance...apparently brought on by the Hatch Implosion. Many seem to think he's been cleansed, which would explian his nakedness.

Dominick needs a new doo!nod Though I'd like him to become Smoke Monster meat!

So the only reason the tailes showed up was so they could kill them off during sweeps.

Cause really none of them have anything to do with furthering the storyline.

Ben's not healing cause hes "supposable" not on the same island.

The whole smoke talking physical form was a bit too much magic for me.

And wasn't it said by the writers in the first season that everything had a logical solution to it?

+++No. Though it must be hard to write a show where things happen as they do, yet the broadcast company uses it as a sweeps ploy even if that is not the intension of the writers...but it is a TV show with ratings in mind (otherwise there would be no LOST). From the tailsection, someone has this to say and I think it's preetty on the mark...

It must be frustrating to be a LOST writer/producer. ABC marketing has again treated the death of a major character as a marketing angle for next weeks episode "The Cost of Living". I find this decidedly stupid on the behalf of ABC marketing; for starters, it makes the fact that a character is going to die seem more and more like a built in marketing ploy for the show instead of the mark of realism that it is. From the perspective of the writers/producers, I'm sure, like any spoiler, it is just frustrating to see something that you hoped would be shocking and surprising be so foreshadowed.

Cause really none of them have anything to do with furthering the storyline.+++Not necessarily. If they had not shown up, they would not have found the Pearl Station. Nor the Arrow station, which had the extra film footage. It also created a dramic storyline with the Raft from Season 1. We also know that from the tailies, the others are interested in taking the survivors for some reason. While I agree that most of them aren't integral to some of the plot, EKo being the exception, it's still good story telling.

Ben's not healing cause hes "supposable" not on the same island.+++We don't know the tumor is real. Nor do we know that they live on the other Island. The smaller island has the Hydra station and that is all we know. Many assume the others live on the Bigger Island, but are doing something else on the smaller.

The whole smoke talking physical form was a bit too much magic for me+++Dave and Jack's Dad were probably the Smoke Monster too.

And wasn't it said by the writers in the first season that everything had a logical solution to it?
++They have said that for each thing they introduce, they know the end result of what it is. People have mistaken what they said...that they siad everything can be explained through scientific means.

According to USAToday, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who portrayed Mr.Eko on Lost asked the show’s creators to kill his character.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje asked to be written off the series. After losing both parents last year, he wanted to return to his London home and work on a film he’ll direct.

Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Juliet, got to know him off the set. “We got along really well,” she says. “He’s about to direct his first movie about his life, which is an incredible story. He’ll be missed.”

Damon and Carlton explained to Ausiello why Eko died in last night’s episode:

Cuse: When Adewale came on the show, he didn’t want to make a long-term commitment to a series. We love him and so we agreed that he would come on the show and then we would find a time in which his arc would come to an end. And we sort of felt after a lot of conversations with him — most of which took place at the end of the spring last year — that we would finish his character somewhere in [these first] six episodes. And as we started talking about what was going to really help the drama of these six episodes, we thought, “Well, this is the perfect place to do it.” As we said, we all kind of went into this [with the idea] that it was only going to be for a limited period of time.

Ausiello: It’s no secret that Adewale wasn’t the most beloved cast member. Did that play any role in his departure? [FYI: In next week’s issue of TV Guide magazine — on sale Nov. 9 — my colleague, Shawna Malcom, reports that, per multiple sources, the 39-year-old actor had become an increasingly difficult presence on set, refusing to film scenes as scripted, insisting on rewrites and even “demanding” several times to be released from his contract.]
Lindelof: We don’t really talk about anything other than the creative decisions made on the show. If you’re hearing it from other people, you’re not hearing that from us. Not to mention, we’re in L.A. So we would never let that kind of thing determine the creative direction of the show. We’re all in the service of the story.

Just wanted to add Adewale was a retired actor...or really wasn't looking to do a show after OZ. But the Eko character was intrigueing, so he took it.

He was a flat, one dimensional character to me. Boring, and a wast of a talented actor. Even when he gave his final non repentant monologue it felt like I was watching Brigette(sp?) Nielson doing a screne reading of Red Sonya.

I agree. I wouldn't mind seeing and dealing with less people. Seeing as we have a whole slew of others to deal with. A new character every now and then i.e. Desmond or the Patches is cool. But bringing in more Losties without a reason other than "don't you want to get in on the action" doesn't ring so true with me. I had heard that the new folks were suposed to be voices of dissent when it was found their "leader" Jack and Kate and Sawyer were captured. I would have liked to have seen that dynamic. Or any kind of reaction to the hatch imploding and the white light. Instead they have gone about it as business as usual. Of course there is always too much story to tell.
