Close minded, stupid people AT WORK So at work yesterday I realized why don't like talking to people.
So on day one, I told the boss that I was taking finals in December and if I could have the day off. She told me "Education is secondary" Yesterday, this person I worked with asked me what kind of woman I normally date, I told her Asian (being I lived in Japan for 3+ years) and she took it as "I don't date anything but Asian." And she kept bugging me about it all day. How on Earth do I wind up with these people? 'A pillow covered in all our tears'

i really have to let my co-workers' ignorant comments roll off my back, because i really don't want to take on the responsibility of 'enlightening' anyone. i just don't want to get into it with them. if i worked in a more social environment, perhaps i'd be a bit more advocate-y, but i don't. i keep to myself and just sigh a little when people's crackhead caveman philosophies start flying around.

I hate work. It's a bus o' fools. Less personal info they have, the better. Contain all conversations to the subject of post-its and computer crashes and you'll be fine.

this is true. i hate when people start getting into judgemental conversations especially when it deals with religion or politics... you would think they would keep that stuff between them and their personal social networks, but i think they keep discussing it here because they have no friends outside of work, ....and no life. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Psst...in a related thread, one of your co-workers is posting about some dude she asked "What kind of woman do you normally date?" and he answered "Asian." Seems she thinks he's really closed-minded and wonders how on Earth she ended up working in an office with such people! The Normal Whores Club

I just talk sports with co-workers. It keeps them at a safe distance.

I work in the art dept., and we're all Howard Stern fans so our conversations are raw. Anything goes - race, sex, politics, bodily functions, you name it. My female co-workers are just as raunchy as us. We get along pretty well because we're a bunch of 30-40+ year-old artists who are into geeky stuff(comic-books, sci-fi, pop culture). If you have a thin skin, don't hang with us.

BUT THAT IS MY PREFERENCE!!! well, technically Asian is a race and not really a kind. You should have said, "psycho". then she would have shut up and left you alone.
