I used to be a big fan of him when he was on Channel 4, he was my favourite from the three spoof personalities done by Cohen, but now he's starting to get boring. All the interviews and article he's given "in character" have all mostly contained the same old material which is wearing very thin now. Very repetitive when you go beyond the first two series. Initially, Borat was the funniest obtuse piss take on telly.
Rather like the his Ali G alter ego, it started off fresh and funny (esp. on the "11 O'Clock Show") then got over played and predictable. The Ali G movie just killed it for me. "..My work is personal, I'm a working person, I put in work, I work with purpose.."

Interesting, I feel the same way about him...but I still want to watch this one for old times sake and because a friend of mine would like to watch it with me. Problem is, we can´t find a place where we can watch the original version ....what they show over here is the dubbed German version where he speaks with a fake ,pseudo-Turkish accent...or to be more precise, what Germans think a Turk ( or Kasach ) sounds like. It´s worse than the dubbed German Monty Python classics. Anyway, like you, I think he was much cooler in the late 90´s , early 00s on Channel 4...I loved his show when I was in London and even bought a VHS tape that I gave my brother the other day because he wrote a term paper on Sascha Baron-Cohen....did you know that his brother is a well known psychologist ? I saw him in an interview the other day, and you can really tell by his looks that they´re brothers. I think a lot of comedians either burn out or become lame and predictable after a while, happened to the best of them..only a few know how to rejuvenate themselves as Chris Rock did way back when... What´s more frustrating than that is the fact that a lot of German comedians over here are simply biting Cohen´s style and literally copy his jokes word for word, even the fake accents and his gear... Eddie Murphy, Kaya Yanar, Oli D.& Wigald Boning, Erkaqn & Stefan, and the list goes on, all kinda burned out and became predictable and lame and it even got to a point where one kinda feels embarrassed to even have had an appreciation for them a long time ago. [Edited 11/7/06 13:40pm] " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Barring a couple of moments, I wished I'd have seen it in German too now "..My work is personal, I'm a working person, I put in work, I work with purpose.."

I nearly died laughing!
There were two little old ladies sitting 5-6 seats down from Alex and myself. One of the little old ladies was absolutely dying laughing. Her friend sat there with a very pissed-off expression and didn't make so much as one single chuckle. Then, when the fat guy was naked, wrestling with Borat, Ms. Sour-Face Old Lady grabbed her friend and INSISTED they walk out. There were only 5-6 of us in the theater for that matinee. Damn were we laughing hard! This one's for you.

Damn were we laughing hard! A bit of a 'spoiler' but that was one of the moments which had me laughing. Difficult to watch due to the sexy delights of Azamat but that part was funny "..My work is personal, I'm a working person, I put in work, I work with purpose.."
