September 11, 2002: What Will U B Doing? The day is fast approaching.
There's fear and anxiety in the air again as the one year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy hits us. It'll b on a Wednesday. Ur kids will b in school. People will b at work. New Yorkers will most likely gather at Ground Zero 2 honor those who were taken from us. But the threat of another attack looms in the air. U.S. Government agencies have been warning us of another attack, maybe this time in California. What will u b doing? |

I will be getting ready to move out, and laugh at all the dumbasses running around like chickens with their heads cut off -
"OHMYGOD IT'S 9/11 WE'RE GOING TO GET BOMBED AGAIN OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OHMYGOD" And so on and so forth. I mean, like, where is the sun?

If the bomb lands on your ass I wonder if you'd still be laughing...

I'll be sad wherever I am and whatever I'm doing. But it won't happen, so we'll have nilch to worry about, will we? Just to spite you, I'll be around a lot longer, rest assured... Remember Halloween? Rumors were flying - and absolutely doodley squat came out of them. Sometimes people cause a lot of ruckus for a whole lot of nothing. I mean, like, where is the sun?

Hmmm, yes, me too. I'd consider myself quite phoney if I did anything else, as I didn't know anyone who was directly or indirectly affected. I will avoid the news though. And maybe I can create some good vibe instead.

These were human beings, OFCOURSE I think it is sad, and feel for the people who lost loved ones. Have you ever lost anyone? Do you have children? There is nothing wrong with grieving for these people. Therapy you said you are not connected? - well then how can anyone watch a SAD FICTITIOUS movie and FICTITIOUS characters and cry? That isn't real. There isn't anything wrong for caring for people you don't know who where REAL and ARE REAL. What is going on in the world is REAL! I'm a positive person, but, I most certainly know that there isn't anything wrong with caring for others, and grieving, and praying! ----- [This message was edited Sat Aug 24 8:11:38 PDT 2002 by EchoOfMySoul]

When I wake up that morning, the first thing I'll do is avoid the news. I sat there and watched it all happen last year. I didn't go to class, they cancelled all University activity. I'd put my head down for sec and pray for those that lost their lives and their family members. Then I'll go on to class or work.
Oddly...here in Detroit, you can fly anywhere for free that day (9-11-02). Isn't that something. Blue Dont play me Blue

Hey, I didn't once say that you were phoney and I understand that different events effect people differently. I cried a lot when the event took place. I was deeply rocked to my foundation in many ways. I do feel for the people who lost loved ones. All I was saying, was that I'm not going to spend more than a few moments contemplation on this. For me, staying with all of those feelings does not feel right. I'm not for one moment suggesting that you ought to do the same. We all experience things differently for different reasons. Ok? In addition to what I wrote above, I just want to add that for me, I have chosen for my life to try to change it for the better. I want to try to put some 'positivity' out there, if it can be called that, cos 'positivity' to me is a bit of a simplified term. My way of doing this is to not let world issues get me down and run my life. I've done that before and I believe it to be unhealthy. Therefore, because no-one I know was directly or indirectly involved, I will spend time with 'things' that allow me to grow. Focusing on such things, and holding on to them is not the way for me. I want to move on and grow. That does not mean that I may be disconnected - it means that I give issues some attention and direct my awareness to them and then move on. I'm glad you are trying to change for the better, and growing. I am always looking to grow, and become more knowledgeable. I agree you can't let world issues ruin your life, you have to go on and do your best. Thanks for explaining, and good luck to you.

I'm taking the day off from work. For me, the one year anniversary of this date deserves more than "a moment" of reflection. My world view has changed.
There are just a few other events in my lifetime that have had such an important, lasting negative impact:
To me, the events of September 11 were a validation that our very survival, and the stability of governments and economies, are now threatened by a new type of "virus:" the terrorist. ___ "When they tell me 2 walk a straight line, I put on crooked shoes"

Death, chaos, turmoil, nervousness, confusion, destruction, sorrow, grief, religion, anger... death.
The day was filled with every emotion that the human body could display... I was glued 2 the screen. I watched, I cried... I will never 4get. On September 11, 2002, I will pray 4 those we lost, 4 those whose families were affected by their loss, and 4 "our boys" who r over there now, fighting 4 something so confusing and contrived. I agree with TheMax, this day will call 4 more than a "moment of reflection"... My day will most likely b consumed by it. God bless u all. |

Or in other words to bury your head in the sand and pretend it never happened? I think you owe oit to yourself to absorb as much as you can stomach. I am sure Bush is gonna use this day to make clear to all Americans that they need to bomb Iraq...
They gonna use this day for political reasons. And i really dont wanna see or hear that shit. I'm with you on this, and if that's your reason for not watching any of it, then I still think you;re doing yourself a disservice. Don't sweat. We won't invade Iraq until the election rolls around and W.'s approval ratings are in the toilet. Anyone else have a horrible sense of deja vu - didn't we all go through this shit 12 years ago? An economy circling the drain, a pending war with Iraq, a Bush in the White House, white collar crime eveywhere we look, stock market down the shitter... I heard a lot in the aftermath of those attacks how "everything's changed" and "it's a different world". Turned out to be not so true. MY world and my view DEFINITELY changed that day. The last shred of my innocence was shattered, and for the first time in my life, something I saw on TV made me cry - and I mean cry hard - like choking on your last morsal of hope. Not sure what I'm going to do that day, but I bet it involves more tears.

I do not mean to start another political debate with TheMax on this this thread which was intended to pay some respect to the victims of 9/11, but I could not leave this uncommented.
TheMax said: I'm taking the day off from work. For me, the one year anniversary of this date deserves more than "a moment" of reflection. My world view has changed.
It has changed? Really? Well, it didnt change to the better. There's many anniversaries everyday which indeed deserve our intention, our concern. However, I do have the feeling you only care about events which seem to affect you directly. There are just a few other events in my lifetime that have had such an important, lasting negative impact:
well... very obscure comparism since 9/11 is the result of a clear human failure. However, AIDS is nothing but a natural circumstance. The attack on Sep 11 sure wasnt... That made me laugh! Why would the Challenger explosion affect you like that (unless you had a relative or loved one aboard)? It looks like that only the happenings which have an affect on you are the ones showing your country's weakness. To put that Space accicent over the many human catastrophes which happen inside or outside your country is a disgrace. The Challenger accident was nothing but a minor traffic accident ... they are happeing every day. Explain that to me, please! Well... no comment necessary. Seems like your very personal traumatic experience. I think Saddam might be going through the same these days, since he does not have the intention to drop a bomb on Washington but he gets treated like he already did... To me, the events of September 11 were a validation that our very survival, and the stability of governments and economies, are now threatened by a new type of "virus:" the terrorist. ... which leaves me with the conclusion that you are an extremely self-centered individual. You react when you are threatened, cool. But you never made it clear yet that you understand the cause of those threats. Call terrorism a virus. You may be right. But its like with AIDS: if you play with the fire, the virus will get your ass. I wonder one thing: Will you moan the lost american lives only? Personally, I will pray for ALL human beings who lost their lives in the cause of 9/11. the 2000 WTC victims, the innocent dead in Afghanistan, and the poor families of iraq who are expected to die in the upcoming intervention. No "US-hater", my friend, dont even go there. Just a lil ol lover of all humanity... "Peace and Benz -- The future, made in Germany"

I think that's a Wednesday, right? See, I believe that day is the day I'm going to this pig farm in Sheboygan. I'm going to pick out the pig that they will slaughter and dress for the big roast on the following Sunday for the Packer game. My friends LOVE pig roasts! I just wish I didn't have to drive all the way to Sheboygan!

Well, Wednesdays are my day off, so I guess I'll be doing laundry and working on my music. We just cancelled our cable, so I wont be able to watch the news. I think I did enough of that when it happened last year. I will probobly take a moment to reflect, but if I think about it too much I might get really sad. It took me a long time to get over it last year. I live in the flight path of the airport. Planes go over my apartment every 10 minutes. I think about 9/11 all the time.

Aaron said: "then the terrorists win!!!" good point...i was surpised that my "taking a second to reflect and move on" comment has recieved a lot of flake. But, its the only way that I can keep a sense of perspective...Sure, many people died however many more people are dying now...And many more people died before Sept 11th. The US governments hypocracy created an an enviroment that allowed religious zylots to manipulate their people into extreme hatred towards us...Yet, no one within our country wants to address this...President Bush seems hell bent on making matters worse and the telivision networks concentrate on the sensational. We publicly morn, we want revenge and we go out and murder more people then actually died during Sept. 11. No...im not going to be glued to my telivision...im not going to participate in worthless memorial services...Maybe if we spent that day in public discussion..serious discussion, maybe I would not look at this anniversary day as nothing more then propeganda...

The reason y i dont wanna hear/c it cause i know myself. I am gonna be upsett and pissed when they gonna use that day for politicall reasons. I dont wanna c those hypocryte lying faces.
