Fuck man, this coulda been my week. I watched the NY/Dallas game last night.....I started feeling kinda bad for the Cowboys and I don't even like them all that much. I was suprised that Drew Bledsoe got benched that soon in the game. I don't think you can fault him all too much for th sacks though. Wonder if he'll be benched for good. I feel bad for the people who put him on their Fantasy team. O.k.....I'm no John Madden, but I don't think Drew Bledsoe got in the endzone.....did he or didn't he? And who saw when T.O dropped that ball on 4th down? poor thing....I almost feel bad for him too. Everything just kinda went downhill for the Cowboys.....as soon as they put Romo in there, he threw an interception. damn.....a Giants fan probably had a field day with that game I died laughing when Tony Kornheiser called Romo Tony Roma.....like the Rib place.

Seahawks QB Hasselbeck out 3 weeks

KIRKLAND, Wash. - Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will miss at least three weeks with a strained ligament in his right knee. And he's not happy about how it happened.

Hasselbeck believes Minnesota's E.J. Henderson could have avoided rolling into his lower right leg Sunday early in the second half of Seattle's loss to the Vikings.

"I don't think it was unavoidable, but only he would know," Hasselbeck said of Henderson and his hit, which was not penalized.

The play occurred when the Vikings' linebacker came off a block by fullback Mack Strong and swung his torso into Hasselbeck's leg, which was planted after he had just thrown an incomplete pass.

"I'm sure he didn't try to put me out for a long period of time — but they didn't want me to finish the game, either," Hasselbeck said.

An MRI taken Monday showed the Pro Bowl quarterback strained his right medial collateral ligament. Coach Mike Holmgren said Hasselbeck has a Grade 2 sprain on a three-grade scale and will miss "around" three games. He will return no sooner than the Nov. 19 game at San Francisco.

"I guess it's kind of good news for me," Holmgren said. "It could have been worse, certainly."

Seneca Wallace, a fourth-year veteran, will make his first NFL start Sunday at Kansas City (3-3). The Seahawks (4-2) are already without league MVP Shaun Alexander, who is out with a broken foot. Holmgren said the 2005 league rushing leader is on track to return Nov. 6 against Oakland.

Hasselbeck said he is constantly aware of people at his feet to guard against injury, "within a certain amount of time after I throw." He said he relaxed in this case, thinking the play was over.

"I guess I learned my lesson," he said.

After Sunday's game, Henderson was apologetic.

"I was falling to the ground and Mack Strong kind of pushed. I definitely didn't mean to do it," said Henderson, a fourth-year veteran from Maryland. "It was definitely an accident. I hope he gets back soon."

But Hasselbeck said if the same situation had occurred with a Seahawks defender and Minnesota's quarterback, there would have been no incident.

"If Brad Johnson is the quarterback on that play, I guarantee nobody touches his knee," Hasselbeck said.

When asked Monday if he thought Henderson's hit was clean, Holmgren said, "I'm going to stay away from that ... I'm going to let someone else make that call."

Replacing Hasselbeck, Wallace was 14-for-25 for 134 yards passing with two interceptions. He also lost a fumble in his own end zone while Ben Leber sacked him. Kevin Williams covered the ball for Minnesota's final score.

Monday, the athletic, 5-foot-11, former Iowa State star said he has something to prove to the league, beginning Sunday against the Chiefs.

"I welcome all challenges. This is what my job is," Wallace said.


Holmgren said the Seahawks are considering signing a veteran, free-agent quarterback to back up Wallace until Hasselbeck returns.

Seneca's team now. Good luck to us!? and to him. He is gonna need it.

Oh good God....

He got "shoved to the ground", and along with his forward momentum made him roll right into Hasselbeck. These people need to look at the frickin' video objectively.

As for last night's Dallas/NY game, I don't know HOW many times the refs let Dallas cheat to try to win that game. I still don't think the QB TD run was good, there was an obvious hold on one of the NY defenders going though TWO Dallas defenders while Bledsoe was backpeddling on one play, and right before the safety the ball should have been snug against the goal line but instead was lined up at the 1 yd line. I'm sure there were more, but Jesus! The ball was touched ON CAMERA and we all saw it! I'm glad they got smoked by NY.

And to ESPN or any other network showing Dallas games, stop showing Owens when he isn't even on the damn field!!! I don't want to see his damn face!

The Vikings have been the victims of many non-calls or bad calls this season. If the same thing happened to Johnson, the refs would have found some way to throw a flag on the Vikings...like maybe a block in the back???

KIRKLAND -- Seneca Wallace has waited almost 3 1/2 seasons for an opportunity like this.

Not under these circumstances, of course.

Wallace, the Seahawks' seldom-used backup, will make his first NFL start Sunday because Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is expected to miss at least three games because of a sprained ligament in his right knee.

That initial start will come against the Chiefs in Kansas City, as difficult a place to play as there is in the NFL. And without the services of league MVP Shaun Alexander, who will miss his fourth game because of a cracked bone in his left foot.

Kansas City defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham came after Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers with more blitzes than the Chiefs had shown all season in Sunday's 30-27 victory, so one can just imagine what he'll cook up for Wallace.

"I can't imagine a more difficult situation for this kid to make his first start," a scout for one AFC team said Monday.

While the perception around the league of Wallace stepping in for Hasselbeck might be, "Oh no," the Seahawks are taking a "Let's go" stance.

Starting with Wallace.

"I am not the person that is going to get nervous or uptight about anything," said Wallace, who threw as many passes (25) against the Vikings after taking over for Hasselbeck as he had in his first three seasons with the team.

"It is a sport we've played all our lives," he said. "You just go out and play and have fun."

And play Wallace will. The Seahawks will bring in a few quarterbacks for tryouts today, but they're looking for a veteran to supplement Wallace and No. 3 David Greene -- not someone to take over midseason.

Or, as coach Mike Holmgren put it, "Just plug Seneca in, and off we go."

Well, it's not that simple.

Hasselbeck and Wallace are different kinds of quarterbacks, and athletes, so the game plan will need to be tweaked to accommodate Wallace's strengths and weaknesses.

"I don't think the playbook will necessarily change," Hasselbeck said. "But each week Gil (Haskell, offensive coordinator) and Mike will come and say, 'There any plays you like or any plays you don't like?'

"The 10 plays that I would pick are probably not the same plays that Seneca would pick."

For obvious reasons.

Hasselbeck has a much better, and wider, grasp of Holmgren's offense. He sees things better -- like the audible he made against the Vikings that produced a 72-yard touchdown pass to Darrell Jackson.

Wallace is quicker, faster and more elusive. But at 5 feet 11, he often needs all those traits to create a passing lane. His inexperience also could be a plus, because he rarely plays unless it's the preseason -- and then it's against the opposition's second- and third-string defenses, and behind the Seahawks second- and third-string offensive lines.

"We just don't have much of a book on Wallace, because when you see him it's always in the preseason in situations where he's not allowed to be at his best," one scout for an NFC team said.

Everyone seems willing to help Wallace, who usually gets no practice reps with the Seahawks offense during the week.

"I think our guys are going to rally around him," Hasselbeck said. "He's a very popular guy in the locker room. He's a very talented quarterback, and everyone knows that.

"As upset as I am at not being out there, I'm excited that he's going to get the chance to play and show what he can do."

One thing the coaches will have to guard against this week is overloading their new starting quarterback.

"I'm going to do everything that I can (to help him), without getting in the way," Hasselbeck said.

Obviously, Wallace has something to prove. Just like he did coming out of high school. And junior college. And Iowa State. No matter how well he played as a quarterback, others always wanted to project him as a wide receiver or defensive back.

"All my life, I have had to prove to people (who said), 'You can't play this position, you're too short,' or whatever the situation was," he said. "I just stuck with it, and the coaching staff stuck with me. My job is to make sure that I can continue to get better."

Starting with his first NFL start, in a very hostile environment.

"I welcome all challenges," Wallace said. "I have to step up to the plate and produce. I have played there before, and it is not going to worry me at all."

That, of course, was in the preseason last year. This time, what he does really will matter.
