I guess no one thinks much of him judging from the responses...wink

I give the man props for all those things he discovered because we probably wouldn't even be sitting doing what I'm doing right now, unless someone else would've thought of it, and that's if he really did!!!

Seems like your the one who has some crtitical thoughts about the guy, huh???!!!

biggrin

It's hard for me to respect a man who has amassed such an obscene personal fortune, yet exhibits remarkable greed in the form of unfair, anti-competitive business practices.

Well the last question can be answered - Microsoft don't have a monopoly on the videogames industry, although not for lack of trying. Xbox sales are appalling and the game lineup is still shit. That said, I don't think it would be bad for the Xbox to get a bit more success, it's certainly good for gamers.

As for Bill Gates... no point in demonizing just one guy, but sure I don't like Microsoft's business practises or the strangehold they've had on techology and innovation for so long. I don't like their new licensing model, I don't like their products, and I don't like the way they attempt to bastardize, imitate and destroy any technology that they don't own.

These days Bill is just Microsofts secret weapon... they wheel him out from time to time to give speeches, meet with presidents etc.

So with this and the entire thread...in lamens terms (my terms) Bill Gates is a wealthy ass-holing git.
Fair enough.

Bastardizing...I like that phrase. wink

Im actually very surprised the X-Box hasnt done that well. Its superior 2 its competitors, its had shit loads of promotion and it actually has a game pad which fits comfortably in your hand. Remarkable.

I guess the grand old Nintendo and Sony franchises are still working their magic and thats keeping the X-Bucket down...and well played 2 them. wink

Don't be surprised - higher technical specs do not equal better games. As for the controller .. don't get me started! The Xbox controller is a travesty, completely unusable (it's fucking huge!!). The Japanese controller S is a lot better though, that's what I have at the moment. It's still too big though, and the layout is quite poor.

As long as there is a Mario and a Zelda title, there is a reason to own a Nintendo console. As long as there are mass-market casual gamers, as well as great games like Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, Rez, Ico etc there will be a reason to keep your PS2. The reasons to own an Xbox though... well they are few and far between smile I'd like to see Xbox take over the PC gaming market, take all the pain and misery out of PC gaming and online gaming in general. That's a niche MS are in a good position to fill.

Yeah the Japanese controller is called "Controller S". What can I say, I'm a videogame nerd!

I'm a software engineer / programmer so I do all the coding and stuff, wave some magic wiffle dust over it and bingo! Out comes a great game biggrin biggrin
