I need to believe in myself more. For the first time in my life I feel more at ease with my body and appearance. Unfortunately that is not something I have achieved myself but something that someone has made me feel. I need to find a way to make myself more comfortable with what I see in the mirror and not count on someone else making me feel that way.

But for the record I am liking the feeling I have now even if it is not down to me.

Ah. So not the skinny uglies? Well. How fucked. biggrin

First of all, who am I to judge who's ugly and who isn't. I don't go around calling people ugly, thats not my character.

What I was clarifying was that when I said, I'm talking about overweight people, is this.

Don't sit around and bitch about skinny people being thin, while your laying on the couch eating twinkies.

It's not fair to the people who WORK to look good, to make them feel shallow because your to lazy to do it yourself.

....haven't you ever hooked up with less-than-noble ladies? Most men I know have! Being inexperienced will do that to a person. Men and women alike make the same mistakes there.

No, every woman i have been with has been a nice woman. i have good taste in women. They might let me down in the end but it's not by being a bad person.

I HATE when people put down the fact that someone cares about their appearance. Just cuz they llok good outside doesn't mean they're not ALSO beautiful inside. It's not their fault some people are to damn lazy to fix what they look like.

I'm not going to say that Madonna or Paris Hilton are as accomplished as Noam Chompsky or Bill Gates, but I totally agree with your point.

We each chose or have been gitfted with areas in which we excell or work very hard to excel at. It's a shame that becuase others may struggle with issues in their own lives, they have to turn the blame around or devalue those who have succeeded.

Tyra Banks is what she is. Beautiful, Slim, flawless. And universally accedpted as being beautiful. This doesn't mean women should starve themselves to look like Tyra, but would it be so much to ask them to snap out of their self-loathing to see her as inspiration in their own lives, based on their own capabilities?

I always visualize Stronger, healtheir people when I'm jogging. I pretend that my body is built like Lance Armsrtong to get me through that extra mile. That doesn't mean that I cry myself to sleep when I can't run a sustained 5 minute mile. It means, I know I can do better.

No she doesn't.
When she called you a piece of shit*,
she said that in aspect,

So are you agreeing with Spats?

I'm sorry, I'm unable to determine how you see this. I'm acknowledging him while trying not to insult him. I agree that there are women out there who might choose the wrong person. I have no idea how many, and I don't care how many. What I was doing was telling him that his claiming that all women are the same is hilarious.

do you honestly believe that a person who is working hard on their own looks spends his or her energy wisely, compared to a person who, say, studies law to become an advocate for the poor?

Well in a super model's case sure. They both pay off. Law and modeling. If I could choose being a lawyer or a model, I'd pick being a model anyday. Just cuz thats what I have more interest in.

And there is no reason that people can't do both anyway.

Look at what Dan wrote. He clowns around, but he is a smart guy. He is successful, fun, AND good looking. Theres no law that you can't be good looking and a good person at the same time.

of course there's no reason that people couldn't be both intelligent and good-looking.

i'm just surprised that you would put putting energy into one's own look at the same level as somebody studying hard to help others.

Unhealthily overweight individuals who work hard to become fit and healthy are to be admired for it is a wonderful accomplishment and takes effort and dedication.

What I find sad is how many in today's society extoll the idea of "beauty" as the end-all be-all of human accomplishment, and who put physical perfection first in exclusion to almost all else. Caring about one's appearance is one thing; obsessing over it, holding it above all else in terms of importance, relying solely on it, and believing it somehow makes one elite or more deserving is another.

Physical beauty can bring out so very much ugliness.
