It was a great discussion though.

Awwwww. I would hope that you didn't piss anyone off, just by voicing your opinion. I don't think thats the case.

I haven't read every single word, just skimmed through.

But I have to agree, and I think any doctor would also agree that it is not healthy to be overweight, and that actually the majority of American consume WAY too many calories each day and eat the wrong foods.

Rapid weight loss in a short period of time is HARD work and is not necessarily healthy, but overall lifestyle changes and gradual weight loss (for an overweight person) is extremely healthy and beneficial. As any doctor in the world will tell you.

I'm not up on all the studies on genetics and all, but I'm sure that for the MOST part if you eat healthy and have an active lifestyle you are not going to be fat. The big boned theory is a crock. Yeah, some people have a larger build, but fat and overall stature are 2 totally different things.

FAT is not healthy. Heart Didease is a leading cause of death in women, and the more fat (especially around your waist) the more at risc you are for heart disease.

Anyways, that being said, weight loss is EXTREMELY difficult, but it is possible, and worth it, in the long run. Just like quitting smoking, quitting drinking, not being a crack head, not having unprotected sex, or whatever. It just is.

So, fat isn't healthy? Fat people still exist don't they? Iam just saying, its cool if u wanna lose weight. But being fat is fine with me. All those things in ur last paragraph ain't healthy, but its not gonna kill u, just like being fat ain't.

Pretty much every girl i've ever talked too, bitch about their weight. U can still look attractive if ur a little heavy or fat. Personally, the stick look is repulsive for me. I just hate how alot of people see fat as some horrible disease. Women in particular have this mindset that fat is bad.

She did an interview with Vanity Fair. The majority of her language was..Fuck..interspersed throughout the interview, along with "if any woman even looks at my man, I'll kick her ass" type of talk.
Appearance is not the end all. It still matters what's going on from the neck up. Physical attractiveness doesn't have staying power. And the men drawn to that don't have staying power either. (Her husband must have been totally humiliated and embarassed by the interview.)

On another note, no matter how many times I look in the mirror, I,m not any taller. lol The good thing is, I'm 100% OK with it. I even wear moccasins. Have a whole collection.

I hate how he left Yes. He is still a good keyboard player to me though. He sorta came back for a few albums playing with Yes in the late 80's/early 90's, but ? He has a shitload of solo albums though.

Yeah, i find countdown hard. Maths ones iam ok at though.

He just hated his bandmates. He used to eat takeaway chicken madras on stage during Howe's guitar solos and wink at the crowd, which got him sacked from Yes twice. He also had two heart attacks by the time he was 30. Interesting guy, Wakeman. Too talented for popular music, certainly.

Anything can kill u. people smoke like chimneys for decades and they are still around?

Anyway being fat ain't gonna kill u. There is waaaaay too much brainwashing into thinking that being healthy is the cure to all ur problems. U can be fat and still have an enjoyable life and live to 100 or whatever.

Very wrong. lol

its really sad, but really skinny girls must think they are fat, as being the way they are requires u to not eat properly, exercise excessively and generally obsess about urself.

I dated a girl for a long time with bullimia. It was nasty and even scary sometimes. She was (still is) a dancer and whilst she was not very skinny, it was horrible what she would do. Of course, she kept it a secret from me and all her closest friends for a while. I found out though. U'd never think she would be bullimic.

Being fat doesn't kill you, however it is a major contributing factor to many things that do kill you.

I want to be the healthiest I can be and I want to avoid as many health risks as I can, there is no shame in that at all.

I also do not smoke, but no one craps on me or calls me vain and superficial or accuse me of thinking I am superior to others (that do smoke) for wanting to be a non smoker.

I wonder what it is that makes you feel so sure that you know the truth about this stuff, when for some of us, it's OUR LIFE. We have gained and lost weight, we have seen doctors, we have analyzed our diet, we care about our health. . . but somehow you have become an expert from the sidelines.

Does that strike you as even a little arrogant? Is it POSSIBLE that there are things about this that you don't understand? Is it possible that somebody who has lived with this as an issue for their entire life could know more about it than you do?

Every time one of these threads comes up, you pull out the same damned argument.

And it is WRONG.

Please repeat after me: correlation does not equal causation.

CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION.

Smoking CAUSES lung cancer. Fat does not CAUSE cardiovascular disease. A person who is fat because they live an unhealthy lifestyle is more likely to get a number of diseases. Caused by the lifestyle. Not by the fat (the only real exception being diabetes, which is caused by both lifestyle and fat). A fat person who lives a healthy lifestyle is a HEALTHY PERSON.

Because this is really not that complciated, and yet people like you continue to hang on to your prejudice and misconceptions even after having your arguments completely torn to bits over and over, I can only go back to my superiority theory.

Dancers tend to have weight issues nod There's a lot of pressure on them (especially in ballet) to have the ideal body.

With my roomates, I think it was more of a situation where they had this mentality that they had to be the thinnest in order to feel pretty. It's partly the culture but also a lot of other things.

For the record folks, I've struggled with weight on and off again during my life.

And it's not the 5 or 10 pounds over weight. I mean, it's significant weight.

But I go to the gym religiously, (yes I've seen a doctor), and yes I know what it takes to lose the weight. It's not rocket scient but it's hard work.

Let's not keep making excuses for being fat, and just do something about it.

There's a picture thread going around right now of male stars that women are attracted too.
There are 2 fat men out of many that were posted on there as "sex" symbols.

But I don't understand why everyone is so upset over this?
My original post was not about fat people being ogres. It was about inspiration and how we should not vilify the good looking folks.

If one is living a healthy lifestyle (eating well, eating proper portion sizes, exercising regularly) there is no reason to be overweight (medical conditions excluded).

What makes you think that you are such an expert on this topic? What makes you think that you know more than Dan? Or me?

By the things you are posting in this thread (assuming that you know it all and others know nothing), the only one that comes off as having a superiority complex is you.

Well, I don't know about pretty as I have no clue if you are ugly, but being your healthiest is within reach. It's very possible.

it's about attitude and commitment.

Also, Erin I think people don't realize that both you and I have talked about our struggles with weight.

We just have a different "View" than other in that we believe we can do something about it... and have.

I don't understand the negativity coming from so many folks. It really ultimately can be achieved by almost anyone.

Iam fine with that. But Ab was fucking way off about saying humans ain't meant to be fat etc.... too many self help books fuck u up. Alot of people think that fat=ugly. Maybe u do too? Maybe u feel unatractive putting on weight? If u do care, then that probably means u care about what others think about u? I couldn't care less if people see me as unatractive or fat. As i said, i ain't a femme pretty boy or whatever, so fuck it.

U said in ur first post:

"I truly hate the way I look now, and that is no joke. It absolutely effects who I feel I am as a person".

Sorry u feel that way. Iam not saying iam always happy and i always get laid. I've been turned down a fair few times LOL (even a hooker would turn me down probably). But if i took ur quote into action, i'd still be a virgin!

I never said fat was ugly, but I do hate the way I look when I am overweight...and yes, I have cared what other's think about me when it comes to my looks.

Like I said earlier, it's something I am trying to get over. We're not supposed to care about that stuff, right?
