NYC(and the surrounding suburbs) is one of the most racist cities in the U.S, more than anyplace down South. We're third behind Detroit & Milwaukee when it comes to segregated schools & neighborhoods. The place where those black officers were jumped is a hotbed of racism...few years ago, a bunch of white cops & firefighters dressed up in blackface and re-enacted the James Byrd lynching on a Labor Day float. We've had racial killings in Bensonhurst & Howard Beach, major police brutality cases(Diallo, Louima, Baez) and a racially insensitive mayor(Guiliani). People here are so g-damn phony, especially the Upper East Side liberals. They talk a good game, but they're just as bigoted as a Southern redneck. At least the rednecks are honest about what they are. NY(city & state) isn't as progressive as you out-of-towners think. | |

Yeah I know all about that...it's just sad....I know people who were harrassed by cops. Some places you can't go to....It might not be a good idea to walk into an all white neighborhood.
