It's also nice to have anyone acknowledge that my hard work is paying off. And it's coming from folks (for the most part at least) who I know appreciate me for who I am anyway.

It's funny how people's (men in particular) reaction can be. Some are afraid of even complimenting me, for fear it would be a sort of back-handed insult.

But I've said here repeatedly, I'm utterly vain, which in turn makes me horribly self-conscious. I know it's one of my biggest flaws. But there it is. If I think I look awful, I feel awful.
We all have things we know we need to work on, but overall I'm generally happy with who I am as a person. But my mental health was suffering due to my not taking care of myself physically. When I was honest with myself about that, that's when I decided to make changes. But I also have to be honest in that at this point my appearance is my biggest motivator. I don't know if I'll ever be happy with my body. But I know making healthy choices (as I have been and am attempting to continue) can never be a bad thing.

I love halloween. I've actually owned several wigs over the course of several years. It's fun to change your hair without all the commitment. It used to be a hobby of mine to create new outfits every weekend, including crazy hair and make-up and such. It's a shame I don't have more pictures from that time.
