I went to a party that was a benefit for a friend of mine, and there was a jam session happening.

I was playing for a while, bass & guitar, and eventually I sang a song.

Afterwards, the keyboard player came up to me and said "nice job, I'm the keyboard player from Spinal Tap" and then he started his big line from the movie, "have a good time..." and I finished it with him "...all the time."

I didn't recognize him until he said who he was. Interesting that most people with small fame like that get sick of people saying "aren't you...?" This guy was all too happy to remind me who he was!

i know the actual person on whom he is based

oh hey. i'm referring to the movie spinal tap, and to the fact that i know someone in real life who could have been the model for one of the characters.

I was really embarassed when I met BB King that I wasn't 100% sure it was even him and had to ask him! but he seemed like he was afraid he would get mobbed or something and made us go into an alley to sign autographs for us
and then he gave us badges but nobody else in that street seemed to be paying him the slightest bit of attention and he looked a bit lonely just walking around by himself.

That happened when I worked at a movie theater that screened a Jean Claude Van Damme movie. I was told not to let anyone sit in two rows (and they didn't tell me whose movie it was), so when he took those seats I tried to stop him. He said quietly "I'm J.C.V.D." as if saying his name would have caused a riot. The theater was basically empty except for his group of people!

hehe cool ... I haven't seen that movie for many years but it's fantastically funny

I sat to Micheal Caine on a flight back to the UK from Canada once I think he was a bit miffed that I didnt reconise (sp) him Well I had but I not the type of person to go all gooey over a 'star' any way that would be messy lol
