And looking to role models in an industry as supeficial as fashion is not irresponsible. I have worked with in addition to many a black industry diva who took it apon themselves to terrorize me when I was a young naive fashion assistant, with some AMAZING black women who when seeing me for the first time would look me into my eyes and there was an unspoken bonding and understanding that we were somehow connected and needed to look out for each other. Any of you who have seen read that book "The Devil Wears Prada"? well, hi(!) that's was pretty much my LIFE at the earliest point of my career...and as a minority it was even more intense, though, sadly only in the midst of other black people in the industry. If Naomi and those of her ilk behave like witches its because they want to, not because they have to. I've had too many experiences with A-List models of color who have behaved gracefully and responsibly (although they can too be theatrical), to think that the Naomis and the Lanas of the industry are anything but ABNORMAL.
