i have a painting that my friend liz made when we lived together in an east village apartment in NYC years ago (she now lives in chicago too).
the painting is a red and blue abstract design with a big arrow and a star. she used tempera paint and cut the star out of a paper bag. the canvas was a piece of refrigerator box. then she had it framed. cost of painting/supplies: about five dollars cost of frame: three hundred dollars i love it!
