REDFEATHERS

In your experience...?

You may have a friend. a very good one, of the opposite sex, but their partner doesnt approve of your friendship, even though you have known them ages

what happens?

how have you dealt with it?

Seems immature and absurd to me.. maybe insecurity?

My lost really really close friend of the opposite sex had a boyfriend who didn't care for me much. shrug

But with good reason--we were sleeping together. Then again, she was sleeping with about 2 other guys too. lol

But how would I handle it now? Well, we'd never go out to dinner alone together. We'd never do anything remotely "romantic" in appearance. I just think it's terribly disrespectful to the spouse if they don't first agree to it.

I can't fucking stand jealousy with no apparent reason. rolleyes I've lost two guy friends that way and it drives me insane...especially considering I prefer men as friends over girls. sigh

I understand him, but continue anyway to illustrate how irrational his fear would be.

What a shitty situation. Drives me nuts.

It's the friend's responsibility to step up and insist on keeping his/her friends.

It can also help to befriend the partner. Makes you seem less threatening (as long as you really aren't romantically interested in your friend; if you are, they will figure you out lol ).
oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

yep. been there. even though we'd been buddies for like 20 years, strictly platonic, his most recent girlfriend was insanely convinced i wanted to jump him when her back was turned. nutty she'd known him for about six months when she moved into his house....

HE humored her and i wasn't invited to his house. still, things haven't turned out well for him, because of her but that's another story entriely.

imo people in relationships should be allowed to have friends outside the relationship, even friends of the oposite sex. you have to be able to trust each other not to cheat or why even bother?
