80's arcade games thread Okay, I'll start it out. Did anyone ever get pass the very first screen of the two most awesome 80's video games, Space Ace and Dragon Lair. I was killed in the spaceship right after lift-off in the former and right as I came into the castle in the latter. Every damn time. Lost hundreds of dollars on those games, since their new-fangled technology up their price to 50 cents.
Well for that matter I couldn't get pass the first screen of Donkey Kong either. [Edited 10/26/06 9:58am] All good things they say never last...

I never got too far on Dragon's Lair, so I wasn't too keen on trying Space Ace. Plus, wasn't one of them the first arcade game to charge 50 cents per play rather than a quarter? Being limited to just a small allowance in those days of my childhood, it was too expensive to get only a couple of minutes worth of play. Plus it was always being played and I would hardly ever get a chance to play it if I wanted to.

I never really got into going to the Arcade, mainly cuz they were only at the Sea Side near to where I lived.
I did love Afterburner though and Outrun. Now if this thread was about 1980's Computer Games.....ala Commodore 64 / Sinclair Spectrum 16/48 and 128K's and the almighty Atari range.....I could waffle on for hours !! .....Probably a good job the thread isn't really.....;lol: I also had an Atari Jaguar and a Vectrex .....Anyone else remeber those? .........Gimme your Doughnut,,,,,,

Galaga and Centipede where the shit I could sit there hours playing those. My older brother always had extra tokens in his wallet and piggy bank, I used to steal them to go to the arcade, LOL. Only, some of them wouldn't work in the machines, and when I looked closer at them I realized they had naked ladies engraved on them, and found out they were tokens for the video booths at the adult bookstores.
Anyone remember that game NARC from the late 80s, it had an anti-drugs theme throughout it. My buddy and I got all the way to the end of the game and almost beat it completely.

All of my money went to Defender.....I was the undisputed king of Defender at a couple of arcades.....
It was one of the best shooters of its time in the early 80's....hand/eye coordination had to be flawless in order to play it at a high level....I'd love to own this one for the playroom....hell I'd love to still have that kind of hand/eye coordination..... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

It was one of the first 50 cent games but at the time it seemed like the coolest technology that had ever been created. Except it was the hardest game ever. All good things they say never last...

We used to have an Atari. My favorite was the cartidge that came with the machine. It had several boring games on it but I used to love the one that had three small green planes together that were worked with one joystick and one big pink plane that was worked with the other joystick. Me and my sister used to play this one a lot. We used to call the big pink plane "Big Mama" and I always wanted to be Big Mama. Big Mama always lost but when she did get a shot in at the three small planes, the bitch sailed on by with such cool attitude. Andy is a four letter word.
