My mates have tried to wind me up by doing that. When I said I was going to the Celebration, and as soon as they hear I'm going to a meet-up, the ol' "Is it a convention??" line come out. Yeah yeah yeah, whatever.

To be fair...some do dress up. Anyone remember that dude from Tokyo that dressed like Prince circa 1984 in that white lace number? It was 2004 and I happened to be a First Ave. It was a costume contest, but he was the ILLEST!

susannah said: I'm not a trekkie! Don't worry about it. My parents used to trip when I would go to Minneapolis for the celebrations. They used to tell me, "You go there for PRINCE? I would never do that." I told them that it was not only for Prince that I would go, but also to meet other orgers. I've met some really cool peeps from this site. I miss those celebrations a lot, they were soooo much fun! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

To be fair though, the Celebration was kinda a Convention! Trekkie! It was NOT a convention!!! Yes, after I showed my membership card, I did the Prince lovesign, spoke backwards and they let me into Paisley Park. Come join us. People still say this to me and really think all we do is talk about Prince, do secret handshakes and dress like him. We should encourage it. [Edited 10/21/06 8:19am]

When some of my coworkers see me, instead of saying hi they go...OOOOOWAAAAH!
So gang, hows about let's have a Prince convention every June 7th? Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.
