You look cool, especially the grey at the temples. (That is what I see, right?) But why at the cusp of winter!?!? hmm

Anyway, yeah, you can definitely do it yourself, unless you're going for some highter-maintenance tapered effect. Don't pay anyone.

I don't know how quickly your facial hair grows, or how low you plan on buzzing your head. But if you're like me, you'll find there'll be roughly a 2-day window between each buzzing that your hair and 5 o'clock shadow will be pretty much the same length and blend especially beautifully. You'll feel particularly sexy on those days. wink

...Oh, and don't be shocked to find you suddenly look hotter in leather and/or turtlenecks. cool

some people with shaved heads look like thumb heads. like thier head and jaw and neck a melt into one giant thumb between thier shoulders

You look lovely.

But I must confess, when Darin told me you'd shaved your head last night on the phone I complained for about 5 minutes straight. (Why would he do that? He's got such great hair! I mean, I'm sure he looks good, but when someone with perfectly good hair goes and shaves their head... I don't know.)

I can't see the pic, Anx - I'll check later - but I'm sure it is the hottness. smile

And don't listen to that barber of your's no no no! - clipping your own hair is totally easy. Simple. And it'll save you a fortune if you're going to keep it that short on a regular basis. nod

Have people started stroking it already??

aw shucks, well, thanks.

i decided that this winter, i was either going to grow my hair long and shaggy, or else i was going to shave it all off. i try growing my hair long and shaggy every winter (the goal is to have a luxurious 'hours'-era bowie 'do) but it never happens...i can't get past the liminal phase where it's not long enough or short enough to look good.

SO. i decided to go the opposite direction this year. at least i can wear hats this winter without getting hat head! biggrin

i knew my barber was full of crap when i asked him the question...i mean, his answer was that i shouldn't shave my own head because i'd get hair on the floor and i'd have to shower afterwards. ummm. lol

i do think i'll go back occasionally to get the back of my head and my sideburns smoothed out, but i see no reason why i can't take clippers to my head a couple of times a week. i've done it in the past, to myself and to others. it ain't brain surgery. shrug

When you're old, and start losing your hair, you'll wish you had it back.

All the 50 something's I know who started this, shave because they're going bald. Grow it BACK!

Plenty of time later to shave when you get to be a baldy. Unless you have good genes. (I believe it's male dominent) If baldness doesn't run in your family, shave away.

baldness runs rampant in my mom's side, but not my dad's...and it seems like i got my dad's hair gene, otherwise i'da been a baldy by the time i was 21. meanwhile, my paternal grandfather died in his late 70s with a full head of beautiful silver hair and a full beard.

my hair grows like a weed...in two weeks, it'll be back to almost the length that people are used to, trust me. this is why shaving my head is so liberating.

also, with all the colors of the fruit rainbow i dyed my hair when i was younger, shaving it off is one of the healthier things i've ever done! lol

I done went and shaved off all my hair! woot!

Once the hairshock wears off, my question will be - keep it or grow it? hmmm

Any thoughts or suggestions, especially from the shaved-headed community, would be muchfully appreciated.
