Wrinkles

so i gave myself a mental health day today and hit the mall with a dear friend of mine. we had a blast - neither one of us is a mall rat, but we had a lot of fun people-watching.

then the topic of wrinkles came up, and she complained about the lines on her forehead. i must say, i have known her for years, and have NEVER noticed them. she is a very funny and expressive Italian, and i just adore her for her awesome spirit and sense of fun.

it made me think about how critical we are of ourselves, especially our looks. some women would rather have themselves injected with botulism and paralyze themselves than to have a silly wrinkle on their faces.

wouldn't it be great if we just embraced the life that is reflected in our faces - laugh lines are beautiful!! woot!

I must say, I'm doing my best to fight aging as much as I can. I hate that my hands look much, much older than my face. (I think I look a bit younger than I am, but my hands betray me!) So I started a special care regimen for my hands. Seriously.
I totally love trying new skin care stuff, particularly anything anti-aging.
I don't think anything of seeing wrinkles on anyone else. But I don't want them on ME.

Tom Waits likened wrinkles to the knots & twists of an amazing old tree, and felt that it only gave you more character.

Of course, I wear sunscreen!

nothing wrong with taking care of your skin. but spending time feeling bad about a wrinkle or two, or going to extremes like Botox, is so self-defeating, especially when we are so much more than our exterior!

you're absolutely gorgeous, Carrie - i bet you NOBODY notices your hands!

omg, you're a sweetheart! biggrin Thank you!

I really am self-conscious about my hands. I know it's silly, but I just think they look so old! Though, I am rather proud of my natural nails. redface

biggrin Your nails are definitely lovely! My Mum has beautiful hands, long slim fingers and natural long nails, and I thought they were so beautiful at such a young age that Ive ALWAYS been concious of having my Dads hands! Small, wide, with nails that grow squint or just flake - good for hard work but not as pretty! lol

But Im over it. Now I just cut them and be proud of my strong hands lol

All of you looks young! hug
