LoL

That is just a truthful answer! Nothing to eek at!

Even though I am very outgoing, many people do not understand to what extent I am a very solitary person. I do let people easily into my life, but not that easily into my heart.

You, of course, are dear to my heart. PURRRRR

You and yer doggies.

Not just tell them; HUG them!

Serious; people with a heart for animals are often the peeps with a highway to my heart. And the extent of your love for your pets warms me, a continent away.

Serious, people like you are the reason I keep coming back here, even though I am cutting back on internet time...

do you apply the same sort of level of trust to the org that you would to real life? more so? less so?

if for example a r/l friend of yours were friends with somebody you didn't much care for, would you be careful about what you say to him or her?

should online friendships rise to the same level of discretion, or even more so?

God knows I made some miss-calculations when I just arrived, all uppy-eyed, including wagging tail. Org was the first site I frequently visited and to blame for my current internet addiction.

At first, I became addicted to the chat room and I thought the contacts made there were freindships, which turned out not to be true in most cases. I got lied to and played, just because people can.

I also made contacts I then valued, but that just did not work.

And then there are a few contacts, just a few that still hold, even though I am not in contact with these people on a daily basis, where ever they live, may it be next to Amstelstation or in bleeding Cali.

Trust come in on many levels here. My personal life is off-limits in many ways. I share a lot, but without sharing too much info. It's just nobody's business.

It also has to do with why you are member of this site. I come here for entertainment value and to keep in contact with the actual friends I made.
I used to get all riled up at posts of certain people, back in the day when flame-wars were still going on. If I now bump into things I don't like I just sent people orgnotes, or when they are REALLY stupid, report them to the mods immediately.

In some ways it is easier to open up on a more personal level online, as it is rather anonymous, but I must admit that this is no longer appealing to me in any way, brought on by encountering too much stupidity.

If I spot a kindred spirit, I seek them out and do more than my best to understand them as well as internet allows. But I no longer push for people who do not answer that interest with the same intentions. If I spot what I call 'weirdness', I am the first to bow out.

'Weirdness'; people sending you fake pictures. People harrassing you with "why don't you ever answer me?"-notes after you noted with them once or twice. You know what I mean.

I would advice newbies ONE thing; be very careful with handing out personal info. It is very easy for people that mean you harm to piece together all the info they need to pry into your personal life in ways you do not want.
Be careful with posting pics, with handing out addresses and phonenumbers. There are lots of weird people out there!

But the few that found the highway to my heart; you were all worth it; I love you.

Spats

I speak my mind and am more honest here than in my everyday life because the chances that i will ever meet anyone on the org in person are almost non existent. Sometimes it's easier to open up to people you don't know.

Everyday life is different because if you spoke your mind and was totally honest, pulled no punches, there could be a lot of bad fallout from that because you see the people everyday or on a regular basis. It could make things miserable at work, in relationships, etc, etc.

That first post you wrote, Herman... worship clapping

I tried to write a response to this thread yesterday but it was hard to sum up what I was trying to say. I didn't want it to sound corny or self-indulgent. But your comment above, Herman, does it for me. I couldn't explain it any better. And I co-sign what Mach and Charlotte say too. nod

I'd like to think I'm exactly the same way on the Org as I am in real life. And if you ask any of my mates, I'd like to think they'd say I'm honest. (Probably too honest). But with that comes discretion and trust. Once I have that, I'm pretty much an open book. nod

So, yeah, I'd say I apply the same level of trust as I do in real life. Some people you 'click' with immediately, other people you enjoy getting to know and others think they know you better than they actually do. Just like in real life. wink
