Black Widow Found In Grapes

A Connecticut woman made a startling discovery as she got ready to eat the grapes she bought at a local grocery store -- a black widow spider.

The spider was taken to the Connecticut Poison Control Center and verified as a black widow.

The store has removed all bags of the grapes from its shelves as a precaution.

A spokeswoman for the grocery store chain said the grapes have been traced to California.

Employees at the health center hope to donate the spider to science.

The venom of a black widow spider is usually not fatal to humans, but a bite is very painful.

be more specific. what do you hope never happens to you?...getting shoved into a bag of grapes, or finding a black widow spider in a bag of fruit..?

Would eating semen-soaked fruit have the same effect as being bitten, a`la Spiderman?

Assuming we'd need a fair amount, it could take a while. I'm betting the average spider ejaculation ain't that big. confused

And it'll probably fall asleep afterwards aswell! rolleyes

funny that the spider was sent to the Posion Control... why not just smush it?

on a related note: in the US there were 2 kinds of harmful spiders, the black widow and the brown recluse... now the just as bad brown widow spider is showing up. creepy!

also... BOO!

I know, and they were all serious on CNN about if this guy was gonna be in trouble for wasting taxpayers money. I dont think they care about the money. Only about how foolish it makes them look jumping off the deep end, acting fanatical about everything.

I dont think there is ever a reason for a terror alert or ever was a reason for one. Our criminal politicians are the only reason for a terror alert. nod

the government was not the ones that blew it out of proportion, they pretty much had to announce it because it was pretty wide spread. one news deal here said the FBI and Homeland Security got 1000s of reports about it... the terror lever was Not raised... they said from the beginning that it was a hoax but the were compelled to report.
