Lyte, N.W.A., Kool Moe Dee, Beastie Boys, M.C. Hammer, 2 Pac, Bigee, The Roots, Lil Jon, Jay -Z, Outkast, Ludacris, and all the sorry crap like Lil Wayne, Gibbs, YOung Joc, Akon and the sorts.
It'd take a book to cover it, or two, but this is just 3 songs, a few paragraphs on hip-hop, some comprehension questions and some to elicit opinion.

I think he should add a fourth song to show that the artistic and message filled music is alive and well, a full opposition to the bling garbage filled popular rap that dominates the airwaves and young culture.

and zerosoul, you're about as hardcore as chevy chase talking jive in national lampoons vacation It's done now anyway, but you're right. I felt kinda peeved helping him but having to basically lie about the progression of hip-hop, or at least horribly oversimplify it. He doesn't know any better though, and nor will the kids, and I guess the simpler the better for the purposes of the lesson. He also asked me to make a compilation for him to play in his new car, his only stipulation being that I put 'Gangsta's Paradise' on there. I started out by ripping from my CDs and putting stuff like The Roots, Mos Def, Jungle Brothers, Q-Tip, De La Soul, Pharcyde and Gang Starr on there, but then realised how futile that was for his likely tastes and used Limewire to get stuff like 'Regulate' by Warren G and '1-2-3-4' by Coolio.
