Nerds: how does one go about finding research opportunities? My girlfriend wants to start grad school (neurophysiology and behavior) within a couple of years, and I'm trying to help her with the whole application process. She needs research experience. I have no clue how a person who doesn't already have a PhD and who DOES already have a full-time job is supposed to get a year of research experience.
I know this is a shot in the fuckin' dark (), but: Anybody here got any info/thoughts about this? Thanks! [Edited 10/26/06 14:52pm] oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Has she been out of undergrad for a while?
An advisor during her undergard years could have informed her about the prospects and opportunities for that kind of thing if she had expressed an interest in going on to grad school. Plus she'd get the letters of rec too. Have her talk to an undergrad prof she knows or the schools career counseling. I'd be wary of CraigsList type postings. (Maybe that's not fair...)

(actually, one should always be somewhat wary of craigslist postings. at least a little bit. especially the ones looking for love. at least that's what i've heard. on 20/20. or maybe it was dateline.) http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

She's been out of undergrad for a looooong time. And yeah, Craigslist is what it is. But, they do list lab assistant positions and such. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!
