If you are on a network, you can also find out your local IP address by going to the Start menu, choosing "Run" and typing in "cmd".

When the black screen pops up, type "ipconfig" and hit Enter.

Now that we are asking for help...

When I inserta a CD into the drive, the computer automatically copies the album to my harddrive. But when a CD has some kind of interactive feature, I am not able to copy the album to my harddrive because of the interactive stuff. Is there a way to disable those features from popping up first before the CD can be copied???

Yep, you just need to disable AutoPlay. From the Start Menu, choose My Computer. Then select the CD drive you want to change. Right click on it, hit Properties, and select the AutoPlay tab. You'll see a drop down menu listing the follwing;

- Music Files
- Pictures
- Video
- Mixed Content
- Music CD
- Blank CD

You need to go to each one seperately, choose how you want it to handle AutoPlay (I usually select Do Nothing), and make sure you hit the "apply" button for each one otherwise the changes won't take effect.

Hmm, what program is it launching? There may be something running in the background that's resetting the options after you change them. Look in your system tray in the lower right, to see if anything related to that program is running.

It's really bothersome because I cannot put Goldfrapp's Supernature of Me'Shell's comfort woman on there and the longer time goes by the more scratches they get mad

For my copying needs, I've used this program called CDex for a few years now and haven't had too many issues with it. I can pick and choose which files I want copied over.

Run the program, put the disk in, cancel or close anything that autoplays, and the program should list out the files on the disk and their size. Highlight the ones you want and click on the MP3 button to your right to have them copied over to the hard drive as MP3s. You probably want to look into the options first to tell the program where to put the copied files, what bitrate you want them to be, etc.

that address in the corner may change if you don't have a static IP address and if you are using say AOL for example the IP will be the nearest POP(point of protocol) that they use. For example if you are looking up a bunch of them for tracking purposes you can usually track them to who their provider is but after that you may need internal help.

unless of course you have that static IP address.

Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.
