Madonna adoption row! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/h...056042.stm
What's your opinion: On the one hand I think the child will have the kind of opportunities not available to him otherwise. On the other hand, Why are celebrities whisking babies out of their own country and not providing the funds for them to be raised there? Have children become commodoties? what do you think?

good points - seems like their money and ability to attract media attention could have a larger impact. then again, ANY kind of help is better than nothing.

I think many have the same issues as you do with this. She could have helped support the father (the child wasn't an orphan) but what would it be like for a kid to grow up priveleged in a 3rd world setting?
All I can hope for is that hese kids get a chance at a better life and as long as they aren't treated like a new purse, I think it's ok. Personally, I think her and Angelina's heart are in the right place. I just hope that they actually take care of the kids and drop them off at some nanny for most of thier lives. They are mothers now and should act like it. At least so far Madge and Ang are both better mom's than Britney and she's had two of her own. Christian Zombie Vampires

I really think the media is out of control, which is half the issue, me thinks. Christian Zombie Vampires

I never criticize how someone chooses to help out. It is their own choice for their own reasons. "Always blessings, never losses......"

I really think the media is out of control, which is half the issue, me thinks. agreed - often times, they are more concerned about the celebrities and possibly the "story" behind the particular child, rather than the overarching reasons behind poverty, etc.

However, kids do grow up in poorer countries and become Doctors and Teachers etc. They need somebody to encourage them and provide the financial support, It's not impossible. When he's older, why not pay for him to go to University in the States or Europe? Provide funds for him. I dont know, I can see both sides I guess. I'll bet Britney is considering it. ... I'm just throwing it out there, of course help is always a great thing. Help can come in many forms but there are issues with international adoption, hence the thread.

But they dont want to discuss this a lot of the time. Just thinking, could a non-celebrity couple have adopted a child in what 10 days?

Not too long. What took them the longest was to get the money to go out to Russia. I think Madonna had to leave the kid there as his passport was taking some time. I think it took more than 10 days. We just dn't know when she actually started the papers on it. Christian Zombie Vampires

Okay, I read that she had contravened the law and that in Malawi it's obligatory to spend 18 months with the child, something like that.

Dear Madonna,
I need to put a new roof on my house. Also I would like some extra cash so I can put in one of those nice german crafted kitchens. Oh and my master bath is quite dated. I would like to replace the tiles and fixtures in that too. Thank you, Spisaribb ..

A concern I have is this child will be raised by Madonna. Not exactly a normal upbringing. Out of the frying pan into the fire.
Still, could be worse, could've been purchased by MJ.

The best thing I did was I got into therapy. That was really valuable. I crashed into myself and saw a lot of myself as I really was. And I questioned all my motivations. Why am I writing what I'm writing? Why am I saying what I'm saying? Do I mean it? Am I bullshitting? Am I just trying to be the most popular guy in town? Do I need to be liked that much? I questioned everything I'd ever done, and it was good. You should do that. And then you realize there is no single motivation to anything. You're doing it for all of those reasons.
