You know what pisses me off about utility companies? They all seem to be the same: when *they* make a mistake - say, they've overcharged you - they expect you to pay right, there and then. No accounting for their botch-up. We had a bill recently which was over-estimated, we informed them, in the meantime received a final notice, then another on top of that for the requote. All because the guy who came round to check the meter couldn't do his job properly. And yet you're supposed to stump up the money quick as a flash. Um, this wasn't our problem.
Yet, if they have to reimburse you, just see how quickly they return the favour. That's big business for you.

Have you considered small claims court? Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Ghetto is buying bling, cellulars and clothes before paying your bills. Word. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

IMHO that's precisely why we have small claims court. The proceedings are conducted informally (in King County, attorneys are usually prohibited from appearing in small claims court), and it can actually be worthwhile to file suit for 40 bucks. Not even for the PRINCIPLE of it.
It's never for the principle of it; it's always about the money. Of course, sending a message to your landlord might be a nice bonus. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |
