It's bad when your utilities are being shut off, eh?

Fucking fuckers. mad

I moved in here a YEAR ago, and I just assumed that the natural gas was included in the rent because my landlord didn't say anything about it and the company never sent me a bill. shrug

Yeah, so, they turned it off. I called my manager, and he's like, "oh, I tell everybody that they need to set up an account blah blah blah." Yeah, this guy is a crackhead and he told me no such thing.

Called the gas company, they said that they had sent two notices (which the postal service did not see fit to deliver, apparently). They won't come out and restore service on weekends. Nice that they turned it off on a Friday, eh? rolleyes

So, I guess I'm eating out today.

Man, this is so ghetto. lol

I bet it is like just around $100.00 total... and fight the fees as they should have caught it a lot sooner...Likely the mail didn't get to you as you never turned it over to your name when you moved in.... ( I would bet the mail is addressed to the building)

It was probably in the packet of paperwork he was supposed to give me and never did. I bugged him about it at some point after I moved in, and then sort of gave up and forgot about it. neutral

Hey, the rent is cheap and the location is great. Something had to give. lol

Good luck getting any fees waived. Utility companies DO NOT CARE...they want their money.

My friend works for Michigan Gas and several years ago, she worked in customer service. She told me that they hear so many stories, you don't know what's true and what are lies, so they have to treat every account the same.

You are correct, madam. I have to pay the fees. mad

It's really unfair. I have NO leverage here. This is why monopolies are bad. What am I gonna do, go without using my stove? They don't care if I'm pissed.

I NEVER go off on people, but I called my manager and told him that I was out $40 plus having to cough up a year's worth of payments because he didn't do his job. He was all, "whatever, I always tell people." neutral

Oh well. I know there are people in the world with real problems. But I'm still pissed! lol

That's not ghetto...When you can't pay for your lights, rent, phone,,,then it is ghetto. And I've done it all. College not on campus and having a real life... I'd hate to wish that life on anyone else. So...like don't cry about it. you have the dough to pay for it. for me it was car, or lights. books or rent. College sucked

i owe the gas company money for my cooking gas (thankfully the heat for the house is included in my rent, otherwise i'd be ultra-screwed). thing of it is that i haven't used my stove since last august because it was so friggin hot outside. same for this past summer. soon as i get enough money i'ma start paying it off in increments. but it's kinda stupid--i don't care if the pilot light's on, why i gotta pay for gas that i haven't even used in over a year?! mad

Oh, I don't have the dough. I'm a full-time student living on loans. The gas bill is gonna go on a credit card. It sucks. shrug

very true. a lot of the time nowadays i gotta choose between rent or food. thankfully my realty company's decent and will take late rent payments (so long as you don't totally blow it off for a long amount of time) in half if you don't have all the money right away.

The thought occured to me to just let it go, 'cause I don't cook that much and I could be fine with electric heat, but my girlfriend likes to cook breakfast in the morning, and I want her to want to stay overnight, so I need a working stove.

So, they finally get here at 8:45pm. Does that seem reasonable? mad
