For those who read lots of books... I know this is a long shot but I am DESPARATE to find this book. Back in the late 80's , there was a book out(non-fiction) about these 2 twin girls(black) from Canada(I think) that didnt talk till they were about 5-6 and ended up going on a major crime spree in their teens. I read this book when I was about 10 and I want to read it again but I have NO CLUE what the title of the book was...I think the girls' last names were "anderson." Not 100 percent sure..has anyone heard of this book?

sorry, have no idea on that one.
But I have my own mystery book I've wondered about for years, a series of them actually. I read them when I was in about the 5th grade, so they're 'Young Reader' type books. The premise is these kids have been forced to live and work in these green domes, and they wear some sort of special (spongey?) belt in order to breathe the atmosphere. I think there's some kind of mining operation going on. Oh yeah, and they're being held against their will by big huge aliens or robots or something. In the last book they escape the green domes and ditch the breathing belts at last. I wish I could remember more but it's been about 25 years now! Does anyone know what this series of books is? I'd love to read them again.

With a few inconsistencies, what you've describe sounds like a series by John Christopher called The Tripods which includes the books When the Tripods Came, The White Mountains, The City of Gold and Lead, and The Pool of Fire.

If I'm not mistaken, PBS broadcast a dramatization of their story, too, a long time ago.

I think this is probably it, thanks so much! Wow, turns out there's a massive amount I'd forgotten about this series. Quite a fuzzy memory. Very well liked books on Amazon - I'm going to check them out. Willy, you rock
