woot! it's that time of year again - time to switch from white to red!

what's your favorite kind of red wine?

I was just telling my husband the same thing the other day and he looked at me like I was crazy. He had no idea that red wine is more for cooler weather and white for warmer weather. Jeez - what a guy wink

I don't really have a favourite red. I enjoy most reds as long as they are dry.

However, I am definitely a Chardonnay kind of gal when it comes to white wine.

Really? You don't like chardonnay's? What white wines do you like? I wouldn't mind trying something differnet, but I've yet to find another white that isn't a chardonnay that I like.

no, can't say that i care for them at all. for a sweeter white, i like a Riesling, and for dryer wines, i love Gruener Veltliner (from Austria), Vouvray, and Pinot Grigio.

You are ALL weird. Wine should be chosen based on the food, not the season. lol

Is it just because most people find it more acceptable to chill white wine, and that's why it's better for warm weather. . .? confuse

Anyway, I'm with you on the ABC. Chardonnay has got to be my least favorite wine.

True, plus if you followed the "rules" you'd practically only drink white wine, and fuck that shit.

Do you NEVER drink red in the summer? I'm still tryin' to figure this out. lol

You must try this little cocktail though for a year round red.
Half a glass of red wine poured over ice, dash of red vermouth and top off with cloudy lemonade, sounds odd but it's delicious, in fact I have a glass of it in my hand as we speak. martini

drool sounds great!

Sounds a bit like sangria! I do make sangria from red in summer. nod

The first white I ever liked was a gewurtzemeiner. Or something like that. lol I have no idea what it's actually called, only that it had a german sounding name and it was sooooo yummy.

no no no!

i don't do rose. shrug

do you have a good one to recommend?

Rose to me is a true summer wine... white or red are for anytime, depending on the food.

I drink pays d'ocs or riojas - just not tavel, because it's the original rose and the most famous brand... so it's production is upp'd w/ sulfites. (ouchie head for me)

I prefer to plump for a full-bodied 13 - 13.5% if it's not accompanied with food. If I'm having it with something like game or venison, I'll usually choose a fairly robust 12%. For pasta dishes or cheese, I've even been known to go as low as a cheeky little 11.5%! (eek)
