The Anime Thread I'm a huge fan of anime... Not that the west doesn't have great animation, but there's not enough variety of plotlines.
Here are 2 of my favorites (considered classics by most anime fans): Akira It's violent, very deep. About human evolution. A teenager in a bike named Kaneda who's been a loser all his life gets access to a great power. But he's psychotic and loses control. Neon Genesis Evangelion 3 14-year olds battle creatures called Angels to save mankind from extinction. The characters all have some form of mental illness. It's filled with religious symbolism. Heh... both are about crazy characters and human evolution... Anyway, any anime fans on the org? What do yall like? [Edited 10/11/06 2:29am]

I love the Akira anime, but am more fond of the original manga. Back in the 80's it was HELL to collect English translations of Akira.
I just know that not many manga's made the same impression on me like Akira did...

I looove Full Metal Alchemist. I'd seen bits of it on Adult Swim & so I downloaded all 51 episodes in Japanese with subtitles.
Paranoia Agent's pretty cool too.

I loved Paranoia agent. I love twisted characters.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I just couldn't into Full Metal Alchemist.

I see some films late at nights sometimes, and they have really cool stories (i prefer reading subtitles then hearing badly dubbed english), and then, some random sex scene will happen? Its completely pointless and can be very weird (the sex scenes i mean)
"akria" is cool of course. I have seen a fair few, but i cant remember the titles unfortunately.

Definitely. Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent and Perfect Blue are all directed by Satoshi Kon. Perfect Blue was intense. Not for the faint of heart. [Edited 10/11/06 16:21pm]

"Spirited away" was great fun. I still dont know why they sometimes put in random sex scenes into anime for? Its funny, but does ruin the flow somewhat.
