WHICH CHILD ARE YOU?

We are family
Madonna, fifth from left, grew up with seven brothers and sisters. She posed with them for the December 1986 issue of Life.

just curious to see who here is/was the:

only child
youngest child
middle child
oldest child
twin
triplet
etc....

what are the advantages and disadvantages of being any of the above, and how well do you get along with your siblings?

oldest. the advantage: being the boss and no hand-me-downs
disadvantage: being responsible for things that my little sisters and brother did. having to do more chores 'cause i was older.

Oldest child

Advantages
Moved out first -- as soon as I graduated high school
More independent
Did everything first
Got everything new (no hand-me-downs)
A leader and not a follower which gave me more control over my siblings -- Queen B
Learned to be very responsible

Disadvantages
Given too many responsibilities at a very early age -- a miniature adult
Always had to look after my siblings
Used as a guinea pig for practically all of my parents crazy parenting antics
Punished for things that my siblings did because I was suppose to be in charge
Had less freedom and given more strict rules to follow
Always heard "Because you are the oldest" mad

I'm the oldest of two girls, but unlike most eldest children I'm not one to be a leader & I'm very shy. Dunno why that is. shrug

Only ... to some God-fearing, old-school parents.

Advantages

Spoiled within reason
Spanked within reason lol
Given tons of attention
Tons of creativity
Active imagination

Disadvantages
Hmm... good question...

Oldest

Advantages:

No hand-me-downs

Disadvantages:

Mother was stricter with me and my sister gets away with a LOT more than I ever did. For example, I was grounded for a having a guy friend that my mom knew was gay sitting on the floor in my room, ("because I don't want you having boys in your room") but my sister regularly has sleepovers with her boyfriend. I ask you, does that make any sense? lol

I'm the oldest as well and i have the same problem as meow. family was more strict on me for friends and gf and such. but less strict with school. so my brothers rock the grade A's in school while i just did average. and people think i'm too rule bound and its caused me to lose a few friends. however as a side report i've started getting my grades up now cause i want to be better than my brothers, lol. and i no longer have any rules or curfews other than help out sometimes (yes i'm still at home)

eldest of two... I'm 2 1/2 years older than my Brother

he is my best friend and we get along really well. he's one of the only people who knows absolutely everything about me both good and bad... he's seen me through the extremes of times and vice versa - and we're still the same smile

5 years and 1 month older than my little brother, sometimes we have to switch maturity levels to get along. He goes to school after I graduate from mine so I get to see my old teachers and other influences in his yearbooks. It's sorta fun but then the "move out" part didn't work out after a while, I was the one who'd quit before finishing. neutral

The youngest of 3 girls by 5 years....but for some reason, I'm the
peacemaker and the responsible one as adults....guess my older sisters
thought they had their share of being responsible for me when we all
lived at home..... lol

But also, I was the one that always had the most fun...even now.... biggrin

Huh, I always figured Madonna was an only child. I've never ever heard of her siblings hmmm

Im an only child.

As for pros and cons, well, I can be a selfish spoilt brat at times, but Im also completely independent and reponsible for myself.

Meh shrug I like me, screw the rest of y'all smile
