What book are you reading? (Volume 10, Issue 35)

I can't believe it! After almost an entire year, I finally finished the book I was reading. I just couldn't get into it as much as other books, but I was damn determined to finish it before starting on any other book.

woot!

Now I'm on to my next book, and it's going infinitely faster. Heck, I'm halfway through the thing, and I only started yesterday afternoon!

I'm in a book club and we were supposed to read Atonement by Ian McEwan for our discussion tonight. I didn't finish it...the first part up until the letter was SO boring. I just couldn't get into it. I'm on part 3 now, and I'll try to finish it, but I just don't think I like British literature. shrug

Next up for the book club: Kite Runner.

Books were chosen by voter consensus...most of them are not things I'd probably choose. I prefer classics; but I'm trying to be more social so I'm participating anyway.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

In case that doesn't work. A heartbreaking work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. I haven't read it in over 3 years so. I am re reading it. Its great.

I am catching up on my children books. Steve Augarde's prequel to The Various is called Celandine. It's all a rollercoaster ride again. Great writing.

In The Various a girl is drawn into the world of what she used to think was magic. She also finds out she was not the first in her family.

The second book tracks the adventures of her great-aunt Celandine. Good fun.

i'm reading "WAKING UP IN ICELAND", which is a travel memoir/kinda-sorta hipster travel guide to the people and places in iceland. so far i'm getting a lot more information from it than anything else i've read on the topic. it dives into the icelandic music scene and shows a whole world outside of bjork and sigur ros - imagine that!
