Ex-Moderator | 11 days... Of me being smoke free and I think I'm alienating every last person I know. Work is the worst, cause I have so many opportunities to be mean to people. They are constantly pissing me off.
I honestly gave someone the look of DEATH today. I run a meeting every morning at 9 and in the middle of my little speech 3 people were having a sort of side conversation and giggling and I made them practically crawl under their chair by shooting laser beams out of my eyes. It was mean. But I was PISSED!!! And then I apologized for being such a crabby ass. So, yeah, 9 days smoke-free. Yay me. [Edited 10/12/06 4:53am] |

Carrie, smoking is all about an addiction to nicotine. Nicotine is a more addictive substance then heroin. it takes 18 years for nicotine to leave the body of a smoker. that's why ciggies are so hard to give up.
you know the filters on a cigarette?...the only work because of little pinholes that surround the body of the cigarette. know where the pinholes are placed?...at a place on the cigarette where most smokers hold it,,thereby covering up the holes, and causing more nicotine to go into each breath. Tobacco companies are not stupid. I gave smoking up 7 years ago..and this past saturday I was at a party, and when i left to say goodbye to some people, they were outside smoking...and don't think I didn't want to light one up..you know, just one.. people say smoking relaxes them...think about the process of smoking...you have to go outside so you're removing yourself physically from a stessful situation..which you can do with or without a cigarette....then you go out and you take a deep breath as you drag on the cigarette...not only are you restoring nicotine, you're also deep breathing, which is a yoga technique...you can do that, without a cigarette...

Ex-Moderator | And thanks, all.
It continues to be about 10,000 times harder than I ever expected. I honestly keep thinking that any day now I'll give in and buy a pack, but I haven't yet. So we'll see... |

The edginess will dissipate. I was a bitch for several weeks. If you need someone to call for support, drop me an Orgnote. Shy of that, picture yourself with an electronic voicebox in your neck.

Eh? Bullshit. He has it semi-wrong. It takes 18 years for lungs to heal back to what they were before you smoked if you smoke for more than 2 years.
