Today's the first anniversary of my arson fire... Oct. 9, 2005...I can't believe it's been a year. The fire and everything following changed me in ways I really didn't expect. I suffered from diagnosed Post Trumatic Stress Disorder for weeks and felt so disconnected and lost. With the help of family and friends (many of them here thanks to Melissa's suggestion ) I was able to get back into my own apartment after five months I've been in the apt for seven months now and it's feeling like home (even for my two kitties who have suffered from dealing with the fire and moving so many times in a short period).
The woman who lived downstairs from me admitted to starting the fire because she wanted attention from her husband. She signed a statement to this effect and went to federal court in Detroit. Her case was dismissed by the judge who said because there were three people (the police investigator, the fire marshal and an arabic translator (she's Lebanese)) present at the time of her confession it was too much pressure ( ) and the case was dismissed. She's roaming around free as a bird while it is decided if the government can appeal the ruling. This disturbs me and I try to look at the positive of the situation rather than dwell on this...but, I can't help but want to see her severely punished. But, again, I want to thank ALL of you for your help and support...if you were able to send something or even if it was a kind word or note...it still means the world to me...and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you.

hopefully in time, mammaries will fade, and you'll be left with just an "oh yeah,
I forgot about the fire"...in the mean time, go celebrate. feed some squirrels.

Glad to hear you're doing so well .
Don't worry about that woman getting away with setting the fire, Karma will take care of it. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

Keep rocking, Apples. It's awesome you can look back as you move forward. It has only made you stronger, in the end.

Wow baby. I know how profound that event was in your life. And your new apartment and the setting it's in was perfect for my trip to heaven It was so wonderful to see first hand the realization of people's love and friendship for you, right there in your apartment. Using the gifts to cook, to serve, to cleanse..... I am thankful that we could show our love at a time when you needed it the most. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

You had a crazy woman living below you? That's scary.
On the bright side, I'm sure you are a much stronger person because of your experience, as bad as it was. Poor kitties.
