consumer reports has the rav4 at the top of the list for fuel efficency... how did you find your 2001 to be on gas? that is about the year of used model i am looking at. and for the record, i want one because cars here bottom out in the snow. getting stuck when you are a single woman is no fun and i want cargo space for camping gear and my bike i want small, as fuel efficent as i can afford, and something that can do safe winter highway driving.

I was just about to mention the Rav-4's MPG. I drive a Corolla (and love it....it gets great gas mileage ), but I read where the Rav-4 actually gets better gas mileage than the Corolla. A lot of those smaller SUVs shouldn't be as much as of problem as any mid-size sedan. http://trucks.about.com/o...rating.htm My mom had been wanting to get me a smaller SUV that's good on gas rather than a car, because everyone has SUVs now. She thought that having a vehicle that was elevated would be a little safer than the Corolla. I admit it is extremely low to the ground, but I still feel safer in a car. Hi emm! The RAV4 2001 that I used to drive was a four-cylinder, 2-wheel drive. It is more fuel efficient than a 6-cylinder 2005 Avalon (my dad lent me his Avalon while my RAV was in the repair shop). If Consumer Reports is talking about the 2006 model, the fuel efficiency may have improved. I would say that its cargo space isn't big enough for camping. I say this based on observation. I have never gone camping. Driving safety is pretty good for an SUV.

You don't need one. Plain and simple. co-sign infinity. Unless you have like, 12 kids. Then you need a hysterectomy, vasectomy, and you still don't need one. Cos you probably can't afford the gas. I hate SUVs. Badly. People have this misconception that driving an SUV makes you invincible. When in fact, it just means you're driving your SUV like a dick and pissing the rest of us off. Ugh, and why is it, especially SUV owners, have to go and park their SUVs in such a way they take up at least two spaces. If you can't park your fucking automobile, you don't need to drive it. That's right, fuck you SUV owner who takes up more than one space. Fuck you. Right up the arse. No lube. This one's for you.

I never park up front cos I know there's old people or whatever who need it more than me, and I figure if I park mid to back at the supermarket or whatever, I'll get more exercise. But I can't even tell you how many fucking times I've been in a lot, and there's been only one bloody space left, but it's unusable because some cocksucker SUV driver couldn't properly park their vehicle. And sometimes, I suspect it's not even because they can't. I mean, if some jerk-off parks right down the line dividing two spaces, it's because the fucktard thinks their vehicle is so important no one should be able to park closely. This one's for you.

Oh, and then there's almost always the SUV driving jerk at the pump bitching about it taking $70 to fill up the tank.
Well, get something economical. Then you wouldn't have that problem. This one's for you.

You don't need one. Plain and simple. They sure are handy when you have two large dogs and a baby. I can't fit them all in a car. I had a Ford Escape but I hated it so I got rid of it. Now I drive a boring Dodge Caravan. I think for families they still make sense. And for people that live in places with hilly or rough terrain. I think of my sister; she's got two babies, a dog, and she and her hubby are avid mountain bikers. It's like she chose form to follow function and I see it as a practical choice. But what I don't get, for example, are single drivers who live in flat assed Florida, and use the biggest SUVs they can find to go cruising down all the beach boulevards at 5 miles an hour on a Saturday night

You just started a thread talking about boxes and closets and closets full of clothes? Think about about all the oil and natural resources that went into creating those clothes(growing and making the fabrics - running the machinery to make the clothes - transporting the clothes and it goes on and on) to sit in your closet. Besides people who drive SUV's pay extra taxes in order to drive the car they choose because of gas taxes. If they eliminated SUV's today your gas prices would immediately go WAY up due to the huge loss in tax revenue. SUV owners basically are paying for our roads and pet projects such as light rail. For the record I drive a Camry. you forget the tax breaks the government gave SUV buyers. i do believe that's been reversed, but for several years, SUV owners were actually a drain on the tax base. a friend of mine actually bought an SUV just for that reason - she is XxAxX and has two cock - so size was not really a necessity here.
