Balloons So they were selling balloons today at work for the United Way drive that's been going on here. They were $2.00 each, and there was a small roll of paper tied onto the string of each balloon. On the roll of paper it would say whether or not you won, and if you did win, what the prize was. They had some decent prizes, including gift certificates to restaurants, among other things. I bought 9 balloons (1 in every color), not only because it was for United Way, but because I really wanted to win a restaurant gift certificate. I didn't win that, but I won some little stuff, like a pen, luggage tags, and those little clips you put onto a snack bag that's been opened to keep the contents fresh.
There's something about balloons that I just love, even now as an adult. I think it's because it reminds me of my childhood. The balloons look pretty in my cubicle, I have them tied onto a chair right now. They're going to be selling balloons again this coming Thursday, and I'm going to try again with winning a restaurant gift certificate. Also, I only got one purple balloon, and I wanted to get at least one more, but they were all sold out. What's funny is that the purple balloon is the first one I bought, but I didn't win anything. So I then went back and bought some more balloons. Maybe I'll have more luck next week, who knows? RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Yeah, it's funny when someone inhales it and starts talking. They sound like Alvin or something. That would be a fun thing to do if you're at a party, and it's really boring. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Thinking of balloons makes me think of that 80's song "99 Red Balloons" by Nena. Everybody sing along now:
You and I in a little toy shop Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got Set them free at the break of dawn Til one by one, they were gone Back at base bugs in the software Flash the message, something's out there Floating in the summer sky 99 red balloons go by 99 red balloons Floating in the summer sky Panic bells it's red alert There's something here from somewhere else The war machine springs to life Opens up one eager eye Focusing it on the sky as 99 red balloons go by 99 Decision street 99 ministers meet To worry, worry, super flurry Call the troops out in a hurry This is what we've waited for This is it boys, this is war The president is on the line As 99 red balloons go by 99 knights of the air Ride super high tech jet fighters Everyone's a super hero Everyone's a Captain Kirk With orders to identify To clarify, and classify Scramble in the summer sky 99 red balloons go by 99 dreams I have had In every one a red balloon It's all over and I'm standing pretty In this dust that was a city If I could find a souvenir Just to prove the world was here And here is a red balloon I think of you, and let it go Actually, this song is sad when you read the lyrics. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
