I dont like all the colors,I like to keep my nails natural looking.
But I did it once in 2004. A friend was in nail school at the time and he needed practice. He did a great job. He did black and white zebra stripes and glued little diamonds on my ring fingers. And he made a gold prince symbol that dangled on my pinky nail..I lost my symbol the next day "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

I like the natural look. Nails that are clean, well shaped, and some clear coat are what I like for myself

my nails were no where near as long as these but i felt rather glam
when i had my gel overlay french manicure done this summer i would get it done again for a special occasion but if my nails get that long i almost feel like they are as long as those purple talons above. how do you function with talons like that?

I won't even get a French one done. Anything that has to shave down the surface of the original nail makes me cringe just thinking about it. Blood and needles are fine with me, but touch my nails and you're dead.

hmmm... i didn't have to have any shaving down to get my gel overlays done she just did some light buffing. it wasn't even noticable. setting them under the light to cure the gel got hot for about half a second... but that was the only thing different from the sensations of a simple polish application.

About 10 years ago I went through a stage of falsies, a beautician friend of mine taught me to do it myself.. was great at the time, but it really fucked up my nails afterwards. Wont ever have it done again for that reason alone.
As I work with my hands its not practical to have really long and elaboratly painted nails. My nails are long and pretty enough to show off in tehir natural state. And I dont need art on my nails when I am continually making my own art every day.

Ex-Moderator | In general I'm not a fan. I like a nice classic french manicure, and occasionally I'll see something that isn't utterly gaudy that catches my eye. But my own nails are simply natural. I just file and shape them and that's it. I don't even use clear polish. Maybe I should... |

I am guessing its not real.. this is from my thread i made about her ... ( i think it may be where peeps got the pic from here ) win place in book of records LONDON - Lee Redmond soaks hers in olive oil. Aaron Studham lathers his in hairspray. They both say it's worth it. Redmond, 65, earned an entry in the latest edition of Guinness World Records with the world's longest fingernails that have now reached a resplendent 24 feet 7 inches (7.51 metres). Studham, 17, joined the ranks of the weird, wacky and wonderful with the tallest hair on the planet. "It's a real icebreaker with the girls," Studham said of his magnificent Mohican hairstyle proudly peaking at 24 inches. "It started as a dare from my friends," the Massachusetts teenager told Reuters after sharing grooming tips with his fellow record holder at a photocall in a London beauty parlour. "It took me five to six years to grow. I don't wear it up all the time but when I do, it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to put it up. I use hairspray and then blow-dry it." Redmond, who is from Utah, shares a centre spread in Guinness 2007, released on Thursday, with the proud purveyors of the world's stretchiest skin, narrowest waist and longest ear hair alongside a woman who can pop her eyeballs 11 millimetres ( 0.43 inches) out of their sockets. Redmond, who started growing her fingernails 27 years ago, has a meticulous routine to keep them in tip-top condition. "I clean them with a toothbrush when they get dirty and always keep them manicured," she said. Every day she treats them with warm olive oil and nail hardener. However, the lifespan of her phenomenal talons is drawing to a close. "I am going to have to take them off in November as I am looking after my husband who is suffering from Alzheimer's," she explained. She still manages to shave her husband daily, but has to sleep on her side and rest her hands on the bed with her nails hanging off the edge. She has attracted some unusual admirers over the years and was once offered money to have her nails nibbled. The prospective buyer suggested that he buy by the inch. When asked the inevitable question about how on earth she goes to the toilet, Redmond said: "Very carefully."

I could never have nails like that, but I love the way they look. I'm so rough on my hands that they wouldn't last long. Have you heard of this product http://www.seacretspa.com/nailkit.html. I was in the mall yesterday and this man at this stand came up to me wanting to do a demo using this. I guess he assumed that my nails were pretty shitty, so he picked me to demonstrate on. It took him only a few seconds to buff my nails with this special buffer and then a drop of oil was applied. I told him that I was fairly rough on my hands and how much of a skeptic I was about my nails staying shiny and healthy looking for days and days after using the product. I told him I'd sleep on it. Plus, he was blowing all sorts of smoke up my ass desperately trying to get me to buy the product. He sounded like he was reading lines from an informercial. I just didn't wanna feel duped. So I slept on it. Well I've been pretty rough on my hands since then and my nails are still looking good. I think I'm sold. I'll be making a trip back to the mall and eating his crow pie. This product seems perfect for me, because it doesn't take much time to buff and apply the oil. One application lasts for a month.....perfect The only thing about this product is that the man told me that it was originally listed for $40....after checking the website out I noticed that it cleary was a lie. He did tell me that because I'm a student that he'd knock the price down to $25. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

or... $4 nail block from the body shop (or anywhere) and a bottle of grape seed oil or vitamin e oil for a couple of bucks... the shine doesn't last a month, but it does last a long time! and it is amazing how good a simple buffing can make your nails look

You know about nails more than I do so I'll go the cheap route on this one. I honestly had never even seen a nail block like that until yesterday. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)
