Good thread However if I reply properly I will depress myself for the rest of the day, so lets just not go there

Ultimate cliché, I know, but I wouldn't be so worrysome.
If there was one thing I will do that my parents did, it would be trusting my children.

As have I been. You learn things for yourself. Pressurising and controlling parents, in my opinion only, increase the desire to rebel by any means possible, which risks fucking up anyone's future.

About the only thing I'd not do that my dad does is start yelling at my kid and then insist I wasn't mad or raising my voice, even though I was yelling at the top of my lungs. This one's for you.

I will NEVER darn my socks. They cost £2 for 5 pairs in Primark. It's just not worth it
If I have kids, if one throws away a half-eaten apple, I will not take it out of the bin and finish it. I will learn to work new electrical equipment in the house instead of relying on the kids to fix it every time something goes wrong. [Edited 10/4/06 8:21am]

~ I will never offer my cupped hands as a receptacle for vomit when one of my children is sick.
~ I will never drive drunk with my kids in the car. ~ I will never rob a drugstore with a fake gun and then receive a shotgun blast to the chest because I tried to rob the wrong old man! Love you, Dad. ~ I will never harass people to "just try" something that I love and they hate, and continue to nag them until they want to leave the table and never eat with me again! "No thanks, I don't want it." "Oh, you're missing OUT! Here, take a bite of mine. Mine has mustard. You'll like it." "No, I'm sure I won't." "But you can't enjoy it without the mustard!" Too true Or my Dad who knows I don't like any form of seafood. I hate it so much I will throw up if it enters my mouth so whenever the family wanted it we'd cook something else for me. Yet he STILL offers it to me.

Grrl..You took my story. I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER do drugs in my life. That shit fucked my mom up. That fucked my childhood up. I was 9, my sis was 7, and my bro was 3, and she would stay out for days and weeks and every so often come around the house and just look so tired and dirty and wore out, and I would try to talk her into not going back out, then she'd fall asleep with us on the bed, but when we woke up in the morning, she'd be gone and we would see her for a while. We'd stay up late in the night praying that she was alright and for her to come home and all that. OH my God. I NEVER want to go through that or put my children through it. Body messager? Please

My cousin got hooked on crack, and she ended up living on the street with her baby. That's when the family stepped in, but still the damage has begun and probably isn't over for the poor child. My mom smoked pot and was a bit distracted, but nothing like a severe alcoholic or heavy addict. My Legacy
