1 year or 3 year Vaccinations 4 dogs (help!!)

I need all your opinions because I got huge decisions to make this week I do not want 2 risk his life or cause him anymore ill health.

My dog is allergic to the Leptospirosis part of the vaccination he has anaphylactic shock (He also allergic to many medications & foods) The vets prefer the one yearly vaccination they say its more effective but I have managed to persuade the vet to use the 3 yearly vaccine (: Canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus type 2, canine parvovirus and canine parainfluenza virus) so as not to have him over vaccinated I have found much data for and against the 1 year and 3 year vaccines now I am more confused not sure in what direction to go in.

What is proposed is too got for two different vaccinations.
1: Canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus type 2, canine parvovirus and canine parainfluenza virus
2: Leptospirosis
For him to have antihistamine and a steroid injection before and if needed, adrenaline if needed after vaccination and for him to stay at the vets for a number of hours to keep and eye on him.

I am still unsure on the Leptospirosis vaccination, this disease is rare in the UK it is more common in tropical country’s. This vaccine can cause numerous problems, it can lower his immunity further, more stomach problems and more allergies can appear and the worse bit if he has another anaphylactic shock it could kill him. The poor thing has enough problems as it is do I really want to subject him to more ill health but if I do not have him vaccinated for Leptospirosis if by chance he gets this disease it could kill him.
Damned if I do damned if I don’t!!!

Currently he is doing very well, very active and full of energy, he only has a few minor hiccups about once every two weeks only lasting for approx 36 hours. I don’t want to lose him he is a beautiful loving little boy it would break my heart if something happened to him.

This is where I need your help and advice.
Are there any dogs owners here currently use the 1 & 3 year injection have u had any problems with them?
Would u put your dog life at risk if you pet had this problem, what would you do?
.

I use the so called "one year" and only have my dogs vaccinated every few years. My best friend is a vet and said that the one year lasts much longer than a year, so every year is not needed. My guess is your vet is saying it is more effective to get more money out of their clients. It's so nice to have a vet as a friend because she is totally straight up with me.

Leptospirosis is not common in this area and is known to have serious side effects so my dogs stay away from that vaccine as per her advice.

My dogs are 11 and 8 - both are very healthy (my 11 year old has cushings disease, but that's not a virus).

Our beagle has that too, her stomach got huge like a basketball. We got her on pills though and she looks much better now. It's pretty expensive keeping up with all the prescriptions and vet visits though.

Oh man, I know. My dog is also on two types of arthritis meds, it adds up really fast. confused

Glad your little dog is doing better. My friend can't belive Maya has lived this long with this disease. She was diagnosed almost 4 years ago and has responded to treatment amazingly well.

I hate seeing her struggle with the pain in her joints though. sad

My sweet old girl.

The vaccine company said it was Lepto that caused the reaction but the vaccine he had was a seven in one they are the ones that said Lepto caused the reaction. I can only trust what the company said. Even if I decided on the three year vaccine he still has to have the lepto one yearly. I wanted to titre test but was told that this wasn’t reliable (titre testing tells u if the vaccines is still working). I do not know what the heck 2 do I got bad vibes about this cry thats why i am asking everyone what they would do.

The meds are exspensive, for just a shampoo it cost me £32.20 last week I do not know how they can justify those prices.
