Enjoy it now Tiger fans, bacause the Cardinals are on a mission.
Pitch to Pujols, I dare you.

A rematch of the 1968 World Series?

1968: Tigers 4, Cardinals 3
It was the year that McLain won 31 games for Detroit (baseball's last 30-game winner) and Bob Gibson compiled a 1.12 ERA for St. Louis. They were brought together in that World Series, and it began with Gibson's incredible 17-strikeout performance in Game 1. All signs pointed to St. Louis winning the Series after it took a 3-2 series lead back to Busch Stadium, but McLain was the winner in Game 6, then Mickey Lolich won a great pitchers' duel with Gibson in the finale.

I'll take it! nod

Why oh why did the A's start Rich Harden.....

I still have faith pray, and right now it is only 2 - 0 and it is still early.

falloff Ahhhh.. I see we brought out the Florida Evans, huh?

Games over and the DETROIT TIGERS have shut out the A's to snatch Game 3 of the ALCS. I thought Harden was gonna be a threat. I thought wrong. It took him 8 pitches in the first inning to throw a strike. How pathetic was that? These weather conditions were supposed to make him right at home. I guess not. The Gambler took him to school. BTW, Curtis Granderson was safe at 3rd base at the bottom of the 7th but the ump called him out. That was some BS. It doesnt matter though, the Tigers take a commanding 3-0 lead over Jokeland. Tigers go for the SWEEP tomorrow at the CoPa!

GO GET 'EM TIGERS! clapping woot! lol

Jokeland????? finger The Tigers have not won shit for 22 years and now all of the sudden you are all cocky?????

When Healthy Rich Harden is a threat. In fact when healthy, many say he has the best stuff in the league. However has been hurt all year and only had three starts since April leading up to this start. So if it took him 8 pitches to throw a strike, he may have been a little bit rusty. The A's took a big gamble starting him and it did not pay off. They should have started 16 game winner Joe Blanton instead.

The Tigers got lucky they faced a depleted A's line-up. Losing gold-glove caliber 2B Mark Ellis hurt the A's a lot. Not having Justin Duchscherer coming out of the pen hurt a lot. Starting a rusty Rich Harden hurt a lot. Not having starting Shortstop Bobby Crosby hurt a lot. Even not having backup infielder Antonio Perez hurt.

If they A's had those key players healthy, it would have been a totally different series.

I said a few words here on this thread as this one is getting a little too big.

As coincidence, or fate (lol), The Detroit Crawl happens to be hosting a FREE Prince club party, aka WWPD, at Buzz Bar, just down the street from Cobo/The Joe and Comerica Park / Ford Field.

It's going to be a great time in Motown next weekend when this series gets started.

Much better.

Now congratulations to the Tigers. They took care of the Yankees and the A's so they definately earned their trip to the world series. They have got to be the favorites to win the World Series now no matter who wins between The Mets and Cardinals.
