Honestly, the Tigers scare me more than the Yankees did. The Tigers have much better pitching than the Yankees do. And again I say, great pitching and defense will shut down great hitting every time. Kenny Rogers for Detroit is almost unbeatable Pitching in Oakland and the A's just can't seem to get Placido Polanco out. But my A's have great pitching also, have that special chemistry going on this year and just find ways to win. It should be a great series, but in the end my A's will win, my prediction is 4 games to 2. It should be a good series! I won't make any predictions because anything can happen...but, it will be some compelling baseball. May the best team win I may be making predictions now, but if I am wrong, watch how fast my posts will be edited to erase any evidence of said posts . This is what October Baseball is all about. It should be a great series and like you say...may the best team win (as long as that is the A's ). "Always blessings, never losses......"

Plus their $200+ payroll does not help. Right or wrong, Joe Torre is pretty much out as manager, so who do you think will replace him???? The rumor floating around is Lou Pinella. . Aren't you originally from Detroit? Or am I confusing you with someone else? Anyways, it was WONDERFUL to see the Tigers celebrate with the fams (fans is short for fantatic ) Detroit NEEDED this win in the worst way (and I'm not talking just baseball). I was OVERJOYED to see the way that celebration played out on national tv Saturday night. It was unprecedented. I had never seen players return from the lockerroom to a stadium that was still filled to capacity with fans to share the celebration with them! Champagne and all, it was incredible. Detroit deserves this so badly. Detroit has given the world so many priceless offerings but is often trashed even when she doesnt deserve it. You cant go anywhere without overhearing people talking about the Tigers. Everyone is behind this team. Everyone is sporting their cherished old English D's. Everyone is proud to be a Detroiter, and Im loving every moment of it! [Edited 10/9/06 19:07pm]

Well the Tigers played a great game last night. They did exactly what you want to do when you open a series on the road, take at least one out of the two games.
My A's are tough and resiliant so I expect them to play better and make this a good series. "Always blessings, never losses......"

What a great game! This catch by Craig Monroe was UNBELIEVABLE! I was expecting more of a fight from the A's. I expect them to come out tonight & lay it all on the field. No one can stop the best pitching in all of baseball. Justin Verlander was named Rookie of the Year by The Sporting News and the Skipper, Jim Leyland was named Coach of the Year! If the Tigers win game two, the A's will be in immense trouble. The Tigers are riding a tremendous emotional high after defeating the Yankees, to return to Detroit to play in front of those fans will be a championship deathwish for the A's. [Edited 10/11/06 6:54am] Whoa..slow up there...remember what happened when the Yankees won game one of the ALDS??? Everyone in the media and every Yankee fan had them winning the World Series already. Well as we all know, that didn't happen. It was only one game of a possible 7 game series and make no mistake about it, the A's are going to put up a fight. Every team has a bad game here and there, but don't mistake one bad game for weakness. The Tigers may very well win the series, but the A's have just as good of a chance and there is plenty of baseball left to play. Don't count my A's out yet . . rooting for a team can be so rewarding, and it can be so freaking painful.
you follow a team for the whole year, you believe the hype of the sports press, thinking your team is going to win it all, and they don't. As much as I'd like to believe the Yankees were in their locker room talking about how they let ol Purplerein down, somehow, I don't think they are. Same with any team. I wish I didn't love the NY Giants as much as I do, but I just love the team. I was sick for days after they lost the super bowl. Again, I don't think for a minute they were worried about me, as much as I was worried about them. being a fan is rewarding, but it can suck too.

And how about the Pistons blowing out the "defending champion" Miami Heat last nigth in prreseason basketball by 20 points?!! That game was being played atteh same time as last night's game 1. Nasr Mohammed had 16 pts,8 boards, 2 blocks! Ben Wallace who??

That's why they play the games. Look at what the red Sox did a two years ago against the Yankees, come back from a 3 - 0 deficit. The A's won two games in Minnesota, the toughest place for a visiting team to win at in the League. The A's can be streaky, and if they get on a winning streak, watch out. They do have the longest winning streak this year (10 games) and had two 8-game winning streaks. So even if they go down 3 - 0, there still is a chance. Would the odds be better if the A's win game 2, sure. But even if the A's lose tonight, I still would not count them out. They are a very scrappy team that finds ways to win, especially with their backs against the wall. "Always blessings, never losses......"
